As innocent children are being martyred and abused in the affected areas of conflicts and the dignity of women are being openly raped and tortured. And when bombs are targeting muslim houses and residents, the ummah asks the why of this chaotic situation. At the time of the Serbian holocaust, those words that the Serbian general said to an amassed muslim men to be pitilessly butchered and when their daughters and women were to be mass raped by Serbians in Bosnia still echoed into my mind: ‘’Where is your Allah?’’ ‘’Why is there no one to help you?’’. The ummah kneed, unable to assist or defend to the mass slaughtering and mass raping of fellow muslim brothers and sisters. Today not even the blood of muslims are cheap, but even their bones are exploited for trade. Na`uzoubillah!

To answer those questions, you will have to understand Allah Ta`ala and His way of tackling things-His sunnah. Because Allah Ta`ala does not change His way of doing or reacting to our actions. Allah Ta`ala says in the Noble Qur-aan that He is constant in His reaction to human actions:

فَهَلْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ الْأَوَّلِينَ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اللَّهِ تَحْوِيلًا ‘’

Then do they await except the way of the former peoples? But you will never find in the way of Allah any change, and you will never find in the way of Allah any alteration.’’(35:43)

Allah Ta`ala will react to our actions in the same way that He reacted to those actions of people of the past. If the ummah brings 51% of its component on salaah and tawakkul on Allah, then the Sunnah of Allah is to help the muslims. But below that bar, we should expect the sunnah of Allah leaving us undefended in front of our enemies.

We have to understand that Allah Ta`ala will defend us when most of muslims are on the full deen of Allah. Because Allah Ta`ala likes His deen more than anything else. Because of His deen, Allah Ta`ala tolerated that His beloved Nabi SAW be bloodily wounded, and yet Allah Ta`ala used to shade the prophet SAW with clouds against the scorching sun. Allah Ta`ala loves His deen above anything. So if the ummah is conscious and obedient of His deen, so Allah Ta`ala is going to be the Minister of defence for the muslims Ummah:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدَافِعُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا

Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed.(22:38)

But the same Allah will not defend us if our creed, actions and clothing are against the Qur-aan and sunnah. In Uhud, the chief of both worlds was on the camp of muslims. Muslims had the du`a of the prophet Muhammad SAW and his holy presence. And yet Allah Ta`ala described how He turned a victory into a defeat for muslims because some muslims disobeyed the prophet SAW and their attention went on worldly possessions:

وَلَقَدْ صَدَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ إِذْ تَحُسُّونَهُمْ بِإِذْنِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا فَشِلْتُمْ وَتَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَعَصَيْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا أَرَاكُمْ مَا تُحِبُّونَ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُرِيدُ الدُّنْيَا وَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُرِيدُ الْآخِرَةَ ثُمَّ صَرَفَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ لِيَبْتَلِيَكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَفَا عَنْكُمْ وَاللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ‘

’And Allah had certainly fulfilled His promise to you when you were killing the enemy by His permission until [the time] when you lost courage and fell to disputing about the order [given by the Prophet] and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you love. Among you are some who desire this world, and among you are some who desire the Hereafter. Then he turned you back from them [defeated] that He might test you. And He has already forgiven you, and Allah is the possessor of bounty for the believers.’’(3:152)

Because the archers set in Uhud left their specific places that the prophet SAW stressed them clearly not to move from there. They moved from there for the booty of this world. So Allah Ta`ala set up the standard for His help to all muslims until the day of Qiyamah that beware that His help is only with His obedience and on following every sunnah of the beloved prophet SAW.

Know that imitating non muslims in their celebrations, mimicking their tight jeans and T Shirts, indulging in adultery, involving in interest and eating mechanical slaughtered chicken will bring defeat to muslims. Allah Ta`ala says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تُطِيعُوا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يَرُدُّوكُمْ عَلَى أَعْقَابِكُمْ فَتَنْقَلِبُوا خَاسِرِينَ ‘’

O you who have believed, if you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels, and you will [then] become losers.’’(3:149)

And remember that no one will stand with us for defence except Allah Ta`ala. Should we disobey Him and leave salaah, then expect the worst to come still:

إِنْ يَنْصُرْكُمُ اللَّهُ فَلَا غَالِبَ لَكُمْ وَإِنْ يَخْذُلْكُمْ فَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَنْصُرُكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ‘’

If Allah helps you, none can overcome you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in Allah (Alone) let believers put their trust.’’(3:160)

Amongst the humans, the one who has most concern for the well being of the human kind is the beloved prophet SAW. Pure from all faults, he will go forward on the day of qiyamah to prostrate Allah Ta`ala to beg Allah Ta`ala to start judgement and start intercession (Muslim).

It is reported in Bukhari that the beloved prophet SAW will wish to call some of his ummah on the day of qiyamah to make them drink from water of Kawsar. But farishtas will call that these particular group called have in fact betrayed your deen after you. So the beloved prophet SAW will say ‘’Stay away, Stay away.’’ As such dear muslim brothers and sisters, no one can help us if our actions and creed are not according to the Qur-aan and Sunnah. And know that the beloved prophet SAW does not know everything and does not know ghaib or discreet things as indicated in this hadith of Bukhari.

This is the solution: we have to care about the deen of Allah in our lives, our family and our environment. Since we have failed to this issue, then we are enduring attacks upon attacks from non muslims. And Allah Ta`ala is not helping us because most of the ummah are attached to worldly possessions and are not longing for preparation after death.

You, me every single muslim should know that he has a contributive effect in the whole ummah. So make tawbah today and turn to Allah in tahajjud to relieve the ummah from its sufferings. Read lot of laa ilaaha illaa anta subhanaka inni kountu minazaalimeen and be punctual on your salaahs. Improve your clothing today, be more Islamic. Do it to contribute for the good actions in favour to alleviate the whole ummah. Else know that your sins will sink the ummah further.

So the answer to the Serbian general during the Holocaust is that it is because we have had less concern for the most precious deen of Allah that Allah Ta`ala is punishing us with your hands. Because Allah Ta`ala has only promised to help those who help His deen:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللَّهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ ‘’

O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm.’’(47:7)

So today, let`s help the deen of Allah by adopting a sunnah that we never had in our lives. And share this concern with everyone in your environment. Then only insha Allah we will have victory.

O Allah! Give us the opportunity and tawfeeq to do good actions to benefit ourselves and the whole Ummah! Ameen. Ameen. Ameen.
