Bismihi Ta`ala*THE PERMISSIBILITY OF DISTRIBUTING PART OF QUR-AAN OR ANY HIZB AMONGST VOLUNTARIES OR WHATSAPP GROUP, PROVIDED READ INDIVIDUALLY.* 

All praise is due to Allah Ta`ala who has guided us to Islam. Islam is an enlightened road that every step of this life has its explanatory note. Islam has in faxt  swept out all mysteries of life. And may Allah Ta`ala send His salutations and blessings upon Muhammad Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam, the one who has been the means for us to be saved by Islam. And may this salutation encompass his family members and all those who follow him. Ameen. The Zikr of Allah is BEST done silently, individually, discreetly and away from eyes of people.Allah Ta`ala says:وَاذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعًا وَخِيفَةً وَدُونَ الْجَهْرِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالْآصَالِ وَلَا تَكُنْ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ And remember your Lord in your heart with humility and awe, and without speaking loudly, in mornings and evenings, and do not be amongst the heedless.(7:205) Although there are ahadiths that some sahabahs did zikrullah aloud and hence gives its permissibilty, but the general and accepted trend of sunnah Zikrullah is a silent and discreet Zikr.The beloved prophet SAW used to sit on his musallah of Fajr doing Zikr of Allah until Ishraaq.(Abu Dawood) Hazrat Juweiriyyah r.a. would sit after Fajr until part of the day doing the Zikr of Allah.(Muslim) Should the zikr be audible, then it would have been reported. And also the beloved prophet SAW stopped sahabahs from raising their voices during Takbeer during a travel, saying that Allah Ta`ala is not deaf(Tirmizi), etc.But the permissibility of doing the Zikr of Allah loudly is valid because of a few narrations that my belovedUstaad Mufti Radha Ul Haq d.b. gathered in his book of doing Zikrullah aloud. Please refer there for more details.  My subject today is about Zikr in a group form. To do the Zikr of Allah silently and individually in a group form is a sunnah established by the Qur-aan and Sunnah. Note here that the group will only do the Zikr of Allah purposely without any condition of food, money or other Bid`ahs attached to it and there is absolutely no gender mixture. You are required to ask Ulamas about the way you are conducting it and then adjusting thereon basing on the established sunnah way.Proof from Qur-aan: 

*Hazrat Moossa a.s. asked Allah Ta`ala to be accompanied in his prophecy mission by Haroon a.s. One of the reason is that they could do more Zikr of Allah and more Tasbeehs. Refer to Ayahs: 29-39 of Surah 20.* 

وَاجْعَلْ لِي وَزِيرًا مِنْ أَهْلِي (29) هَارُونَ أَخِي (30) اشْدُدْ بِهِ أَزْرِي (31) وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِي أَمْرِي (32) كَيْ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيرًا (33) وَنَذْكُرَكَ كَثِيرًا *

From amongst the Sahabahs r.a., there used to be sitting together in a group form doing the Zikr of Allah silently. The beloved prophet SAW appreciated this group and hence established the sunnah of conducting Zikr of Allah in a group form.*

 عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ خَرَجَ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَلَى حَلْقَةٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ قَالُوا جَلَسْنَا نَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ قَالَ آللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ إِلَّا ذَاكَ قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَنَا إِلَّا ذَاكَ قَالَ أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْتَحْلِفْكُمْ تُهْمَةً لَكُمْ وَمَا كَانَ أَحَدٌ بِمَنْزِلَتِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقَلَّ عَنْهُ حَدِيثًا مِنِّيوَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ عَلَى حَلْقَةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ قَالُوا جَلَسْنَا نَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ وَنَحْمَدُهُ عَلَى مَا هَدَانَا لِلْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنَّ بِهِ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ آللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ إِلَّا ذَاكَ قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَنَا إِلَّا ذَاكَ قَالَ أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْتَحْلِفْكُمْ تُهْمَةً لَكُمْ وَلَكِنَّهُ أَتَانِي جِبْرِيلُ فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُبَاهِي بِكُمْ الْمَلَائِكَةَ مسلم *

Reported in Sahih Muslim that a group of Sahabahs were sitting in the masjid Nabawi when the beloved prophet SAW came to ask them of the reason of their sitting? They answered that they were sitting to do Zikr of Allah and thanking Allah for guidance towards Islam. The beloved prophet SAW stressed upon them the reason and they gave the same answer. Then the beloved prophet SAW said that Allah Ta`ala is praising you and appreciating you in front of Angels.(Muslim)*

 I note: Had they been doing Zikr of Allah aloud, then there was no need to ask them the reason for their sitting.This is the main proof that doing the Zikr of Allah in a group form, without gender mixture, is RECOMMENDED. Furthermore, to distribute Hizb between voluntaries is permissible also.

رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ قَالَكُنْتُ أَبِيتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِوَضُوئِهِ وَحَاجَتِهِ فَقَالَ لِي سَلْ فَقُلْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ مُرَافَقَتَكَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ أَوْ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ قُلْتُ هُوَ ذَاكَ قَالَ فَأَعِنِّي عَلَى نَفْسِكَ بِكَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ مسلم
*Reported in Muslim that Rabi`ah bin Ka`b Aslami said that I used to be in the service of the prophet every night serving him his wouzu water and his needs. One day he told me: ‘’Ask whatever you like’’. I answered: ‘’I want to be with you in Jannah!’’. The beloved prophet SAW asked him: ‘’Anything else?’’ He replied’’None but this quest.’’ The prophet SAW told him to help him for this quest by lots of Sajdahs(Nafils Salaahs).(Sahih Muslim)*

 From this, we see that the beloved prophet SAW used the participation of the sahabahs for accomplishment of the heights in Jannah. The proof of distributing responsibilities in the same pious motive is derived.Furthermore, there is another hadith where the beloved prophet SAW dreamt that he was drinking milk from a large recipient. When he could not finish the milk content, he passed it on to Umar to finish it. The beloved prophet SAW extrapolated the dream as Islamic Education.(Bukhari)قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حَمْزَةُ عَنْ أَبِيهِأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ شَرِبْتُ يَعْنِي اللَّبَنَ حَتَّى أَنْظُرَ إِلَى الرِّيِّ يَجْرِي فِي ظُفُرِي أَوْ فِي أَظْفَارِي ثُمَّ نَاوَلْتُ عُمَرَ فَقَالُوا فَمَا أَوَّلْتَهُ قَالَ الْعِلْمَ بخاري 

So if I can`t finish a full Qur-aan for isaale sawaab of a deceased, then I may pass the other parts of the Qur-aan to other members of the family or any voluntaries. A full Qur-aan reading is beneficial since the whole Qur-aan is Shifa(Cure), a guidance(Hidayah) and a blessings(Rahmah) as described by itself. The sunnah of completing Qur-aan during the month of Qur-aan(Ramadhaan) and the prophet SAW describing the Qur-aan reader as a traveller that after reaching his destination, he embark again on his hizb, reading 3 times surah Ikhlaas you get sawaab of a Qur-aan and councelling the sahabahs to finish a Khatm of Qur-aan in 30 days, etc are clear proofs to initiate a completion of the Qur-aan. There is absolutely no reason for us to stop such practice of Radio or WhatsApp group of Qur-aan except that the issue of volontariat or any sunnah practice tampered.In any group form, there should not be mixture of gender physically or any fitnas coming from such groups. 

 Furthermore we find that when the beloved prophet SAW was sick, Hazrat Aisha r.a. used to read the 3 last Surahs as a cure against fever or other sickness and then blowing over the hand of the prophet SAW to pass it over his body.(Bukhari)The reading of 3 last surahs(Ahad, Falaq and Naas) is the strongest prevention and cure against any infection, harm, evil eyes or sorcery. Normally we read them and blow over our hands to pass it over our body. We do it minimum after Fajr, Maghrib and before sleeping. We read it 3 times each time blowing over hands to pass over body. Put this strongest Ruqiyah in your life.   But in the hadith of Bukhari, Hazrat Aisha r.a. used the hands of the prophet SAW(since His hands were more mubarak) to pass over His body. The participation of a second party or third party is welcomed in a Zikr of Allah. Hence mahram family member may participate together in a group form at home in a completion of Qur-aan or any Hizb. 

Hence, permissible to participate in Qur-aan completion through any group form provided that no other shariah law tampered.Faqat.Wassalam. Include us in the intention of your gift of reading sawaab.
