| Bismihi Ta`ala *PRECAUTION OF EXACTNESS OF NEW MOON OF SHA`BAAN FOR THE SAKE OF RAMADHAAN:* حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِىٍّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِى قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- يَتَحَفَّظُ مِنْ هِلاَلِ شَعْبَانَ مَا لاَ يَتَحَفَّظُ مِنْ غَيْرِهِ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْهِ عَدَّ ثَلاَثِينَ يَوْمًا ثُمَّ صَامَ. هَذَا إِسْنَادٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.دار القطني ابن حبان *The beloved prophet Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam used to take more precaution about looking for the new moon of the month of Sha`baan, more than any other month. Basing on the visibility of the new moon of Sha`baan, He used to account for oncoming Ramadhaan. If the moon(of Ramadhaan) was not visible, then He would count 30 days(from month of Sha`baan) and then fast for Ramadhaan.( Darul qutni, Ahmad, Ibn Hibaan.)* حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ حَجَّاجٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَحْصُوا هِلَالَ شَعْبَانَ لِرَمَضَانَترمذي The beloved prophet SAW said: *‘’Count as from the new moon of Sha`baan to fast for Ramadhaan.’’(Tirmizi)*So muslims should try to revive this sunnah and inform their respective moon viewing committee about their findings.
