*BE CAREFUL OF YOUR ZAKAAT.**Since the lockdown and curfew, Alhamdulillah many volunteers have given their support to the community at large. Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam used to encourage sadaqah and charity to all poor human being, be it muslim or non muslim.**One can give Sadaqah or charity to any organization helping the poor. Better give your charities to local poor people of your area because that is the principle of shariah. Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam told hazrat Mu`az bin Jabal r.a. to take from the rich of Yemen and give to the poor there-Bukhari.**But your Zakaat, Fitrah, Fidyah and Kaffarah should exclusively go to muslims poor recipients. Since these have obligatory prescription, then there are specific recipients targeted for them: muslims who are poor and do not possess nisaab amount of surplus wealth. So while you are giving Zakaat, Fitrah, Fidyah or Kaffarah one should know exactly whether he has given the right recipient. If Zakaat or these mentioned are given to those who possess nisaab or non muslim, then the obligation is still due and one has to re-give that Zakaat…**My mentor, Hazrat Mufti Meerun sahab r.a. used to tell us that one can give Zakaat to poor revert muslims without enquiring much on them.**My message today is that we should give our general sadaqahs to those organizations who are helping the poor genrally.**But you should pick and choose specific recipients who deserve your Zakaat, Fitrah, Fidyah and Kaffarah. Poor muslims who do not possess nisaab. A hint in that is that choose those organizations that are supervised by ulamas.**If due to lockdown you can’t give your zakaat, so at least calculate it on your ramadhaan date. Then when possible, you give in future based on your ramadhaan calculation.**For a company, find the NET CURRENT ASSETS as at 1st Ramadhaan. Then according to your share ratio, calculate 2.5% of that sum.*
