Astaghfirullah 3 times after Farz Salaahs rather than Allahou Akbar

After in-depth study of ahadiths, some Muhaqiqeen ulamas concluded that right after farzs salaahs, it is NOT sunnah to say Allahou Akbar. But rather, it is Sunnah to read 3 times Astaghfirullah and a few masnoon du`as that are mentioned in ahadiths. Reported in Sahih Muslim that Hazrat Sawbaan r.a. described that when the beloved prophet Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam finished salaah, He used to say Astaghfirullah 3 times and then read Allahoumma antas salaam wa minkas salaam Tabarakta Zal Jalaali wal Ikraam.(Muslim)

The hadith from Bukhari of Ibn Abaas r.a. saying that sahabahs used to say Allahou Akbar loud after salaah is suggested to adapt during the days of Hajj when it is wajib to read Takbir aloud for men.

Ibn Abbas r.a.: ‘’I used to know about the termination of salaah of Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam with the voice of Allahou Akbar.’’(Bukhari)

In Bukahri itself, Ibn Abaas r.a. reports that he used to hear the loud voice of Sahabahs doing the ZIKR OF ALLAH after salaahs and then he should know that salaah finished:

Hence the saying of Allahou Akbar after Farz salaahs from the first riwayah may be interpreted as the Zikr of Allah. (Nawawi) We should note that Ibn Abbaas r.a. was about nine years old during the last year of Rasouloullah SAW. Hence as a boy, he used to stand at the last row in salaah. This also indicate the sunnah of putting the non baaligh child at the back as found in hadith of Abu Dawood, Tahawi and Tabrani:

At the back of the row, he could only know about the termination of salaah when sahabahs used to raise their voices with Zikrullah. Taking consideration of all the hadiths above and the majority of ahadiths, we conclude that saying Astaghfirullah 3 times is hence sunnah. And some ulamas advocate that it is recommended for the imaam to raise his voice in masnoon Du`as after salaah due to the ahadiths showing that sahabahs used to make Zikrullah aloud after salaah. But others prefer to do it quietly as prescribed by Qur-aan. Conclusive will be that the imaam may teach the musallis the masnoon du`as after salaah by raising his voice in his du`as. Insha Allah will try to send next time on the few masnoon du`as after salaah. For today, we learned that it is sunnah to say Astaghfirullah 3 times after Farz salaahs.
