*ANOTHER UMRAH FROM TAN`EEM.*

*On a comparison note, when you are in Makkah settled in your hotel and you have a choice today between a Umrah or to go for tawaaf then know that it is better to do a Umrah unless you can do tawaaf continuously that exceed the time taken to do a Umrah. If a Umrah nowadays may take you 4 to 5 hours to complete, then you should do tawaafs that exceed 4 to 5 hours to excel in sawaab. So on a normal comparison spectrum, it is better to do Umrah because nafil tawaafs normally finish shorter than Umrah consumption time.*

*But if one can do tawaaf longer than Umrah time, then it is better to do tawaaf:*

*From Makkah, to do another Umrah, you only need to go to the limit of Haram and not to Miqaat. It is sunnah to go to the limit of Haram-Tan`eem- or Masjid Aisha for Umrah ihraam. It is sunnah for both men and women staying in Makkah to wear the Ihraam of their Umrah from Masjid Aisha. And this sunnah was not only to women but also to men also. It is wrong to say that only women can do so.*

*The proof is that Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam gave order to the brother of Aisha r.a.-Abdur Rahman r.a.- to go and perform Umrah together with his sister Aisha. After Hajj of Rasouloullah SAW and his Sahabahs r.a., Hazrat Aisha requested that she do another Umrah because she could not complete her Umrah due menses when they reached Makkah. As such she complained that everyone is going with a Umrah and a Hajj and she is going with only a Hajj. The concept of competition between sahabahs was on deen and good actions.* *Not on wealth possessions. So reported in Bukhari that Rasouloullah SAW called Abdur Rahman r.a. and ordered him to take his sister Aisha r.a. to the limit of Haram and then perform Umrah from there. So they went to the place where nowadays is Masjid Aisha r.a. in Tan`eem to wear their Ihraam of their Umrahs. Then both of them went Makkah in Labbaiks to perform tawaaf and safa marwah. When they finished, both of them came Muhassab-Abtah- where Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam and the sahabahs were waiting for them.* *Rasouloullah SAW asked them: ‘’Did you both finished your Umrahs?’’ They replied ‘’yes’’.(Bukhari)*

حتى نزل المحصب ونزلنا معه فدعا عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكر فقال اخرج بأختك من الحرم فلتهل بعمرة ثم افرغا ثم ائتيا ها هنا فإني أنظركما حتى تأتياني قالت فخرجنا حتى إذا فرغت وفرغت من الطواف ثم جئته بسحر فقال هل فرغتم فقلت نعم

فنزلنا المحصب فدعا عبد الرحمن فقال اخرج بأختك الحرم فلتهل بعمرة ثم افرغا من طوافكما أنتظركما ها هنا فأتينا في جوف الليل فقال فرغتما قلت نعم

*As such it is sunnah to perform another Umrah during your stay in Makkah and sunnah to go Masjid Aisha in Tan`eem to wear your ihraam from there and then proceed to Makkah for Tawaaf and Safa Marwa. Necessary for men to shave hair if short hair. Even if no hair, then still one need to pass blade over the whole head to come out of ihraam. Women should cut 2 cms of their whole hair lot to come out of Ihraam. A minimum of a quarter of the head/hair is absolute necessity to come out of ihraam. Without shaving for men(if long hair, then can cut short) and cutting for women, one does not come out of ihraam. And all those prohibitions of Ihraam stays until shaving and cutting done.*

*Also mentioned that the beloved prophet SAW was a musafir during the Victory of Makkah and he performed a Umrah from Ji`ranah, not far from Tan`eem(Bukhari):*

عَنْ قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ أَنَسًا أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ

اعْتَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْجِعْرَانَةِ حَيْثُ قَسَمَ غَنَائِمَ حُنَيْنٍ

صحيح البخاري

Imaam Malik r.a. mentioned the same opinion in Muatta Imaam Malik. Ibn Sireen, imaam Ahmad et Ibn Qudamah also have the same opinion. And know that Hazrat Ibn Abbaas r.a. prescribed those people in Makkah that their point for Ihraam of a Umrah is from Tan`eem (Mustadrak Hakim) :

عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما ، قال : « الحج والعمرة فريضتان على الناس كلهم إلا أهل مكة فإن عمرتهم طوافهم فليخرجوا إلى التنعيم ، ثم ليدخلوها ، فوالله ما دخلها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إلا حاجا أو معتمرا » « هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم ، ولم يخرجاه ، وقد أسند عن محمد بن كثير بإسناد آخر

مستدرك للحاكم

Eminent sahabah like Annas bin Malik r.a. when he was in Makkah and when his hair grew slightly after shaving them, then he would go to Ji`ranah(not far from Tan`eem) and wear Ihraam there to redo a Umrah. (Akhbaar Makkah):

– حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ بَعْضِ وَلَدِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: ” إِنَّ أَنَسًا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كَانَ يَكُونُ بِمَكَّةَ، فَإِذَا حَمَّمَ رَأْسُهُ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْجِعْرَانَةِ فَاعْتَمَرَ “

It is reported that when Ibn Zubeir r.a. finished the historic reshaping of Ka`bah, he then ordered his companions to accompany him to perform a Umrah from Tan`eem. (Akhbar Makkah, Subulul Huda and Hashiyatul Jamal)

حدثني جدي ، عن مسلم بن خالد الزنجي ، عن يسار بن عبد الرحمن ، قال : « شهدت ابن الزبير حين فرغ من بناء البيت ، كساه القباطي  ، وقال : من كانت لي عليه طاعة فليخرج فليعتمر من التنعيم . قال : فما رأيت يوما كان أكثر عتيقا ، ولا أكثر بدنة  مذبوحة من يومئذ

Although tawaaf is the best ibaadah during your stay in Haram, but times to times, when physically ready, it is recommended to redo a umrah from Tan`eem. You would be imitating eminent sahabahs like Ibn Zubeir and Annas bin Malik r.a. 

So definitely, the point of formulating intention for another Umrah is Tan`eem(Masjid Aisha r.a.) when you would be in Makkah. But when travelling to Makkah from your respective country, then you should do intention of your Umrah as from before Miqaat.  

Note that a Mutamatti can perform several umrahs before or after Hajj.
