The knowledge which the Prophet (PBUH) has brought is the most precious heritage of the universe. By the way, our existence and that of the world depend entirely upon that knowledge. The first education was to know (God) ALLAH and His Attributes. The first revelation announced: IQRAA: “Read in the name of the Lord who created………….Who taught by the Pen” (Surah 96).The Pen with which to write the Quran, to store first and foremost knowledge, in order to teach future generations about the faith. Otherwise, for the understanding and the preservation of education, we would need specialization on education as a whole in order to develop what is known as FIQH. It is the judgment of Islamic jurisprudence which encompasses all the branches of knowledge left to us by the Prophet (PBUH). For that reason, there is a need for boys and girls in each family to choose their field of specialization in Religion. That would mean the safeguard of our religion, the safeguard of the world and a means of delaying the Day of Judgment. You see, that is because the Prophet (PBUH) has said: “Judgment Day will not be proclaimed as long as there will be, on the surface of the earth, people who ill pronounce the name of Allah.” (Muslim) When Qiyaamat will be near, Islam will lose its luster and people will not find a qualified educator to teach them, until the day will dawn when ignorance will be so widespread that ladies will perform salaahs while they are in their menstrual period. (Mustadrak Hakim). There will be no Oulamas to teach people their five salaahs and people will say then that there are only three salaahs. (Hakim). In fact, people will look for an imam to conduct salaah, and thus spend a long time, but in vain. (Ahmad). Tabrani has reported that Ibn Mas’ood (RA) has stated: You are living at a time when salaah performance takes more time than the Khutbah of Jum’uah……….Soon, will come a time when the khutbah will be longer than salaah performance. There will be many speakers but few jurists”. You see, to prolong the khutbah like a long discourse, longer than the salaah, is one of the signs of Judgment Day!
The knowledge that gives birth to other branches of knowledge is that of halaal food. By the way, knowledge about food is so important that the prophet (PBUH) laid much emphasis upon it even as regards the child. Already, as early as in childhood, the Koran has indicated when to stop breastfeeding and has made it obligatory on the father to provide the child with appropriate halaal food:”The mother shall give suck to their children two whole years…….but the father shall bear the cost of their food and clothing on equitable terms.” (Surah 2 verse 233). And when the child begins to understand, he should be taught to distinguish between halaal and haraam. Bukhari has reported that, once Hassan (RA), grandson of prophet (PBUH), while still a child, picked up a date to put in his mouth. The prophet (PBUH) immediately told him “Chichi” to make him spit it out. He then told him. “Don’t you know that we (The Ahlé Bait) do not eat sadaqah food? “ Hence, the prophet (PBUH) has taught us that a child should be educated about halaal food since a very early age. Because haraam and doubtful food represent a cancer for our faith. You see, the good effects of good deeds encourage a person to continue his sacrifices and his pious deeds. However, when the effects become null and void due to haraam food, then the person loses heart and does not pursue his pious path. The prophet (PBUH ) has stated about a person who consumes haraam food:”How can the supplication of a person who has consumed (such food ) be accepted ? (Muslim). Whoever is pious likes his own path: “Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has faith, verily to him or her We will give a new life, and life that is good and pure, and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions.” (Surat 16 verse 97)
By the way, avoiding to protect oneself about halaal food is one of the reasons for the decline that leads to the end of the world. In fact, nearer the day of judgement, people will, through ignorance, consider illicit and haraam those decisions which religion has decreed as halaal and permissible. (Hakim). And yet, they will be educated people in subjects other than religion (Tirmizi). They will legalize adultery and wine drinking. Abu Dawood has reported that people will consume beer but will call it by another name. I am asking myself: Are these not those ‘alcohol-free’ drinks that we find nowadays? They will legalize hunting in Mecca and the wearing of silk dresses (Ibn Najaar). They will utilize interest money and they will engage in illicit transactions. And they will legalize the use of musical instruments. Bukhari has reported that a time will come when people will not bother whether the source of their money is halaal or haraam.
We should therefore keep ourselves informed of all matters halaal and haraam. Because there are halaaal certificates displayed in supermarket which are either not valid or do not satisfy Codex norms. We therefore advise the Muslim public not to consume animal flesh, sausage and bread sold in supermarkets. In every country, halaal certificates issued by mosques or other institutions can be found. However, few of them satisfy Codex norms. Therefore, abstain yourself from doubtful meats and especially do not let yourselves to be deceived by false halaal logos. We condemn the supermarkets which has misled their Muslim customers. We advise you to refrain from purchasing meats, sausages and bread fromall the hypermarkets. We counsel you to choose vegetarian menus during plane flights and even when you are outside Mauritius. We have an sms help line 57921333 to give you sound advice. We leave you with this advice of the prophet (PBUH) : ‘Leave the doubtful things and seek to choose non-doubtful things.” (Bukhari)
