| Bismihi Ta`ala THE PROTECTION OF HOME AND SALAAH.Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam recommended us to take protection of the house in times of fitnahs. Rasouloullah Swalallahou Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘’Stay in your home and keep silent. Stay in safety mode. Manage your affairs individually and keep yourself away from groups.’’(Abu Dawood)سنن أبى داود – ()عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَبَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ حَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ ذَكَرَ الْفِتْنَةَ فَقَالَ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ النَّاسَ قَدْ مَرِجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَخَفَّتْ أَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَكَانُوا هَكَذَا وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ قَالَ فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ كَيْفَ أَفْعَلُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ جَعَلَنِي اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ الْزَمْ بَيْتَكَ وَامْلِكْ عَلَيْكَ لِسَانَكَ وَخُذْ بِمَا تَعْرِفُ وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَعَلَيْكَ بِأَمْرِ خَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ وَدَعْ عَنْكَ أَمْرَ الْعَامَّةِ In normal times also, the house is a protection from many fitnas. Rasouloullah Swalallahou Alaihi Wasallam told us to avoid spending time to talk in the streets.المعجم الكبير – الطبراني – () حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بن أَحْمَدَ بن يُونُسَ الأَهْوَازِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بن عَمْرٍو الرَّبَالِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بن عُمَرَ الْوَاقِدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَارِثَةُ بن أَبِي عِمْرَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بن يَحْيَى بن حَيَّانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ، عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بن عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ”إِذَا نَزَلَ مَنْزِلا فِي سَفَرٍ أَوْ دَخَلَ بَيْتَهُ لَمْ يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى يَرْكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ Reported in a hadith that Rasouloullah Swalallahou Alaihi Wasallam used to read 2 rakaats when returning from a travel. Salaah is a means of asking Allah Ta`ala help and protection. Hence, when you return home after a necessity, then do 2 rakaats for protection against all harms/fitnas/virus from outside. Reported in Muslim that the one who ate from garlic, then he should not come to Masjid because the bad odour will cause harm to people and farishtas. صحيح مسلم – ()حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ خَيْبَرَ مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ يَعْنِي الثُّومَ فَلَا يَأْتِيَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ Ancient garlic had a very strong odour. That is why, one could not get rid of the odour even after brushing the teeth. But nowadays, our garlic are not of the strong kind. But we denote that if by causing harms with odours, one should not go Masjid, then you understand those ulamas that are saying stay at home to keep you and others safe during this epidemic lockdown/curfew. Reported in several books that Hazrat Umar r.a. advised a leprous lady to stay at home instead of making tawaaf and causing difficulties others.شرح بلوغ المرام – عطية – (ونظير ذلك تلك المرأة التي كانت تطوف بالبيت وهي مريضة بالجذام -عافانا الله وإياكم- والجذام ينفر منه الناس ويتقززون منه، ويتباعدون عنه، فجاء عمر بجانبها وهمس إليها: يا أمة الله! لو خرجت من المطاف ولزمت بيتك كان خيراً لك، فلم تكمل الشوط وخرجت مباشرة، ومكثت في بيتها إلى أن توفي عمر ، فأتاها آتٍ فقال لها: يا أمة الله! اخرجي، فقالت: لماذا؟ قال: إن الذي كان قد نهاك قد مات، فقالت كلمتها العظيمة: ما كنت لأطيعه حياً وأعصيه ميتاً، فرب العزة حي لا يموت It is the spirit of Islam to benefit others and do not harm anyone. Hence stay at home for you not to be a means of harming anyone.We have learned that businessmen have started to inflate prices of food during this curfew/lockdown period. Harming others during this scarcity period is far more gravity than other normal period. In times when people are lacking money and you are making profit out of it is against all spirit of Islam.Fuqahas has said that it is makrooh tahrimi and haraam for food sellers to hoard food stock 40 days or more to sell it later at higher prices-Shami.Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘’The one who hoard food from muslims, then Allah Ta`ala will punish him with leprosy and bankruptcy.’’(Ibn Majah)سنن ابن ماجه – ()حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو يَحْيَى الْمَكِّيُّ عَنْ فَرُّوخَ مَوْلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ احْتَكَرَ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ طَعَامًا ضَرَبَهُ اللَّهُ بِالْجُذَامِ وَالْإِفْلَاسِ The moment one start hoarding food to sell it at higher prices later, then he has made a mistake: Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘’The one who has hoard has sinned.’’(Muslim)صحيح مسلم – )عَنْ يَحْيَى وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ كَانَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ مَعْمَرًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ احْتَكَرَ فَهُوَ خَاطِئٌ So instead of making business over the epidemic situation, rather take the Elevator and make discount on necessity items and accumulate great sawaab and `afiyah-well being.
