Bismihi Ta`ala *THE MODERATE UMMAH-Part 4.*

*I met some people that thought that they need not to work. They hold the view that tawakkul is to avoid asbaab/means and they made people sit at home or in the Masjid without work. This is a wrong conception as highlighted in our article ‘’Tawakkul accompanied with precautions’’ on islam-qna.org. Another proof that this concept of Tawakkul is wrong is that Sahabahs r.a. had their respective professions in front of Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam. Allah Ta`ala describe the best of men after the prophets as those whom their work, their worldly occupation does not prevent them from remembering Allah, Salaah and Zakaat(24:37):*

*On the very next day of khilafah, Hazrat Abu Bakr r.a. went out in the morning to his shop in the market. Hazrat Umar r.a. asked him where he was going? He answered: ‘’The market’’.  Hazrat Umar r.a. told him that who would look after the affairs of Muslims? So he said: ‘’I have to work to provide for my family.’’ Then Hazrat Umar r.a. told him to concentrate his day for the affairs of khilafah and eat from Baytul Maal.(Baihaqi;Bukhari):*

*This shows the moderation that sahabahs had at the peak of the best of generation. This shows also that the imaam sahab also may take his salary due to his occupation with the imaamat. The moderation will be that if the imaam sahab has spare time, then he make mashwara with the mutawalli and then he may involve himself through a part time business to resemble more Sahabahs. Because past records shows that acceptance of deen works have been more to those ulamas who did not take money from their work. Besides, Hazrat Abu Bakr r.a. returned all money taken in Baitul Maal by a valuable property. M Yousuf Binnory r.a. returned all his salaries taken from madrassah by rent obtained from a gift land/building that his friend businessman did for him.*

*M Zakarya r.a. discuss that in Faza-ile Sadaqat. But fine tune with moderation in each individual case. Be modest. Because in some trustees wish that their imaam be only for their imaamat work.*

*Also reported in Shu`abul Imaan that the beloved prophet Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam said that the one who look for Halaal earnings to compete on proud, amassing wealth and for show off, then he will meet Allah Ta`ala with His wrath. Whereas the one who look for halaal earnings to avoid mendicity, to provide for his family and to lokk after his neighbours, then he will meet Allah Ta`ala with a shining face like the full moon(Shu`abul Imaan).*
*Finally, the beloved prophet Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam ordered moderation in the daily routine of working.*

*The beloved prophet Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam explains that when one is indulging in daily activities of working for this dunya, we are alike cows that eat sweet green grass of Spring season. Continuous working, even halaal, is continuous eating of grass! If we don’t equilibrate with stopping with dunya and give a few days to deen, then we would get sick as the cow get sick as a result of over eating.(Bukhari)*
*As such we need to leave some time of the day for deen, some days of the month for deen and some time of the year for deen. Without this equilibrium, we would get sick. In fact tabligh saathies are the most equilibrated muslims of this era. They take out 2.5 hours daily, 3 days a month and 40 days a year. Sahabas used to give one day to the masjid and one day to their halaal earnings. Because they knew that continuous effort on halaal dunya earnings cause spiritual sickness and stagnancy as described by Rasouloullah SAW(Bukhari).**Nontheless, 10 days in jamaat or in I`tikaaf, there is a great opportunity to equilibrate the scale between dunya and deen next coming Ramadhaan.*
