*When a musalli is coming to join the jamaat and the imaam is already in Ruku’, then the musalli should say Takbeer raising hands and leave the hands falling for a second, without folding them. Then go in ruku’. Fuqahas stated that any standing/qiyaam that will be switched off swiftly, then hands should NOT be folded. This include when standing in salaah after 2nd n 3 rd Eid salaah Takbeers(standing without zikr), when joining imaam when he is in ruku’ and when in qawmah(between ruku’ and sajdah). So one should leave hands hanging on both sides and not folding them during these “brief” standings.*
قَوْلُهُ قَرَارٌ إلَخْ) اعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ جَعَلَ فِي الْبَدَائِعِ الْأَصْلَ عَلَى قَوْلِهِمَا الَّذِي هُوَ ظَاهِرُ الْمَذْهَبِ أَنَّ الْوَضْعَ سُنَّةُ قِيَامٍ لَهُ قَرَارٌ كَمَا مَرَّ. وَبَعْضُهُمْ جَعَلَ الْأَصْلَ عَلَى قَوْلِهِمَا أَنَّهُ سُنَّةُ قِيَامٍ فِيهِ ذِكْرٌ مَسْنُونٌ وَإِلَيْهِ ذَهَبَ الْحَلْوَانِيُّ وَالسَّرَخْسِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُمَا. وَفِي الْهِدَايَةِ أَنَّهُ الصَّحِيحُ، وَمَشَى عَلَيْهِ فِي الْمَجْمَعِ وَغَيْرِهِ، وَقَدْ جَمَعَ فِي الْبَحْرِ بَيْنَ الْأَصْلَيْنِ فَجَعَلَهُمَا أَصْلًا وَاحِدًا، وَتَبِعَهُ تِلْمِيذُهُ الْمُصَنِّفُ مَعَ أَنَّ صَاحِبَ الْحِلْيَةِ نَقَلَ عَنْ شَيْخِ الْإِسْلَامِ أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ فِي مَوْضِعٍ أَنَّهُ عَلَى قَوْلِهِمَا يُرْسِلُ فِي قَوْمَةِ الرُّكُوعِ وَفِي مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ أَنَّهُ يَضَعُ، ثُمَّ وَفَّقَ بِأَنَّ مَنْشَأَ ذَلِكَ اخْتِلَافُ الْأَصْلَيْنِ لِأَنَّ فِي هَذِهِ الْقَوْمَةِ ذِكْرًا مَسْنُونًا وَهُوَ التَّسْمِيعُ أَوْ التَّحْمِيدُ كَمَا مَشَى عَلَيْهِ فِي الْمُلْتَقَطِشامي
Same when imaam in sajdah/qaedah: musalli raise hand saying Takbeer and then leave hands hanging for a second and then join the imaam whatever position he is. Mufti Mackoojee
