No, not recommended. Because the sunnah of the prophet SAW is that he made qurbani with his hand, in Madinah Munawwarah. The Qur-aan explicitly says that Qurbani is a symbol of Islam . Hence one should do revive the symbol of Islam in one`s own environment. This was the continuous practice of the prophet SAW all the years he stayed in Madinah Munawwarah. It is reported by a sahih hadith of Ibn Umar that reports that the holy prophet SAW kept on doing qurbani himself all the ten years he stayed in Madinah(Tirmizi).
It is reported that whenever the day of qurbani would get near, the holy prophet SAW would make someone buy two sheep. Then, on the day of Eid ul Adhaa, he would perform salaah and khutbah, then go slaughter his sheep.(Ibn Majah) Hence it is recommended, sunnah and symbolic to slaughter the animal with one`s own hands. Not sunnah nor recommended to send abroad, because qurbani is not done principally to relieve poverty. Wallahou a`lam bissawaab.
Is qurbani abroad recommended?
