Financing maktab expenses with zakat?

If an institution collects zakaat, distributes some among the poor and keeps  part of it for use to finance madrassah expenses (paying mudarris, buying books etc) and other islamic activities. Is it jaiz?

Permissible if this is done properly according to shariah and for non maktab (small children madrassah). Our maktabs should be ran by lillah money.
