Bismihi Ta`ala
*CAUSES OF RIOTS, INSECURITY, SOCIAL UNREST, WARS AND POLLUTIONS AND WHAT ARE THEIR REMEDIES.*
The main cause of riots, insecurity, social unrest, wars and pollutions is sins. The actions of humans goes up as seeds daily and then follows the fruit of these actions comes down as conditions for us. The effect of good actions bring wealth, prosperity and security. The effect of bad actions bring drought, hunger, insecurity and wars
ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُمْ بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُون
Calamities have spread across land and sea as a consequence of actions of humanity; so that He(Allah) makes them taste some (punishment) as consequence of their actions; so that they return(to the right way).30:41
One of the main disobedience of muslims nowadays is abandonment of Salaah:
Allah Ta`ala says in the Qur-aan:
وَضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا قَرْيَةً كَانَتْ آمِنَةً مُطْمَئِنَّةً يَأْتِيهَا رِزْقُهَا رَغَدًا مِنْ كُلِّ مَكَانٍ فَكَفَرَتْ بِأَنْعُمِ اللَّهِ فَأَذَاقَهَا اللَّهُ لِبَاسَ الْجُوعِ وَالْخَوْفِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَصْنَعُونَ
‘‘Allah gives an example: There was a town, secure and content with its sustenance coming in plenty from every place. Then, it turned ungrateful to the bounties of Allah;so, Allah made it to taste hunger and terror(that covered it) like a garment, as recompense of what its people used to do.’’(16:112)
فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا الشَّهَوَاتِ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا
‘’Then came after them a generation that abandoned salaah and follow their (selfish) desires. So they will soon face the outcome of their deviation.’’(19:59)
We can see that abandonment of salaah brings all instability in social and economic standard of living. Whereas giving time in masjids waiting for salaahs is the defence against all social disruptions:
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى مَا يَمْحُو اللَّهُ بِهِ الْخَطَايَا وَيَرْفَعُ بِهِ الدَّرَجَاتِ قَالُوا بَلى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِسْبَاغُ الْوُضُوءِ عَلَى الْمَكَارِهِ وَكَثْرَةُ الْخُطَا إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ وَانْتِظَارُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ فَذَلِكُمْ الرِّبَاطُ
صحيح مسلم
The beloved prophet Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘‘Shouldn`t I inform you on what Allah Ta`ala will erase sins and also that will elevate your ranks? ..:wouzu meticulously done even in unpleasant conditions, lots of paces towards masjid and wait for another salaah after a salaah. THIS IS THE DEFENCE OF YOUR BORDER.’’ (Sahih Muslim)
So men populating masjid and spending time there is the main defence of a city. Women staying piously at home with fasting and salaah enhance a saint society.
Abandoning salaah on time will cause enemies to have upper hand over us.
Another hadith of Tabrani given below shows that the fire of sins in our society are extinguished by wouzu and walking of pious men towards masjid after azaan.(Tabrani) The firemen of the fire of society are musallis. And if the percentage of firemen are mostly sleeping, then expect that the fire will torment the whole society soon in the shape of revolts, riots, coup, genocide, etc
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بن مَسْعُودٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ:يُبْعَثُ مُنَادٍ عِنْدَ حَضْرَةِ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ، فَيَقُولُ: يَا بني آدَمَ، قُومُوا فَأَطْفِئُوا عَنْكُمْ مَا أَوْقَدْتُمْ عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ، فَيَقُومُونَ فَيَتَطَهَّرُونَ وَتَسْقُطُ خَطَايَاهُمْ مِنْ أَعْيُنِهِمْ، وَيُصَلُّونَ فَيُغْفَرُ لَهُمْ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا، ثُمَّ يُوقِدُونَ فِيمَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ، فَإِذَا كَانَ عِنْدَ صَلاةِ الأُولَى نَادَى: يَا بني آدَمَ، قُومُوا فَأَطْفِئُوا مَا أَوْقَدْتُمْ عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ، فَيَقُومُونَ فَيَتَطَهَّرُونَ وَيُصَلُّونَ فَيُغْفَرُ لَهُمْ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا، فَإِذَا حَضَرَتِ الْعَصْرُ فَمِثْلُ ذَلِكَ

Nowadays the greed for money and obsession for amassing wealth has spoiled our dealings. No precautions are taken on interest, haraam earnings, illicit inheritance, etc. Reported in Abu Dawood:
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبُرُلُّسِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ إِسْحَقَ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ أَنَّ عَطَاءً الْخُرَاسَانِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ نَافِعًا حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْ بِالْعِينَةِ وَأَخَذْتُمْ أَذْنَابَ الْبَقَرِ وَرَضِيتُمْ بِالزَّرْعِ وَتَرَكْتُمْ الْجِهَادَ سَلَّطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ ذُلًّا لَا يَنْزِعُهُ حَتَّى تَرْجِعُوا إِلَى دِينِكُمْ
صحيح ابو داود
Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Umar r.a. said that he heard Rasouloullah Swalallahou Alaihi Wasallam said: When you would indulge in illicit transactions, and you would hold the queue of cow, and you would be content with cultivation, and you would abandon going in the path of Allah, then Allah Ta`ala will cast a disgraceful condition upon you. Nothing will cast it out unless you return to your deen.(Abu Dawood)
So going in the path of Allah would open up our chaotic situation.
The main causes to this degeneration of the ummah are:
1. Stagnancy.
2. Our attention is on worldly means and not on Allah`s help.
3. Stinginess (avare).
4. No concern for life after death and no preparation for akhirah.
5. Lust for worldly processions.
6. Abandonment of daily salaah by majority of muslims.
7. Illicit transactions
Stagnancy or not going in the path of Allah is such a sin that cause the earth to squeeze although the earth crust may be large and broad! Allah Ta`ala refers to the three sahabas who did not go in the path of Allah- Ka`b bin Malik, Murara bin Rabi` and Hilaal bin Umayyah r.a. Allah Ta`ala considered their stagnancy as a great sin and their sins caused the earth became squeezed and confined on them although the vastness of the earth:
وَعَلَى الثَّلَاثَةِ الَّذِينَ خُلِّفُوا حَتَّى إِذَا ضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْفُسُهُمْ وَظَنُّوا أَنْ لَا مَلْجَأَ مِنَ اللَّهِ إِلَّا إِلَيْهِ
‘’And [He also forgave] the three who were left behind [and regretted their error] to the point that the earth closed in on them in spite of its vastness and their souls confined them and they were certain that there is no refuge from Allah except in Him.’’(9:118)
That is why Bhai Abdul Wahaab r.a. used to stress that the Ummah should make Tawbah on stagnancy. Then be in the movement of going in the path of Allah.
Be it stagnancy, adultery, illicit transactions, abandonment of salaah, lust and obsession of earning more and no conscious of one`s deen, we need to make tawbah and start correcting ourselves as from today. We need 51% of the locality and the Ummah on salaah and deen. Only then we will see change in our conditions. Fix a day during the week to meet muslim men in your locality to call them towards Masjid. This is the engineering of maximising musallees in your area and hence improvement of the insecurity and social unrest.
