Bismihi Ta`ala
*AVOID SLEEPING AFTER FAJR SALAAH UNTIL SUNRISE.*
Normally it is Makrooh to sleep in such a time that will make you miss salaah. *_It is Makrooh to sleep late at night such that you will miss Fajr(Shami)_*:

after Fajr salaah. Note that in the Qur-aan Kareem, Allah Ta`ala described 3 times of privacy that is related to bed and resting/intimate times that children also should ask permission before entering the room of a couple(24:58)
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لِيَسْتَأْذِنْكُمُ الَّذِينَ مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحُلُمَ مِنْكُمْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ مِنْ قَبْلِ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ وَحِينَ تَضَعُونَ ثِيَابَكُمْ مِنَ الظَّهِيرَةِ وَمِنْ بَعْدِ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ ثَلَاثُ عَوْرَاتٍ [النور : 58]1. Before Fajr Salaah.2. At Nap time during the day.3. After Esha Salaah.
So according to the above ayah, we are NOT supposed to sleep after Fajr salaah.
Reported in Muslim shareef that Abu Wa-il ra visited Hazrat Abudullah Ibn Mas`ood r.a. after Fajr salaah. After reaching the house, even after given permission, they hesitated to enter thinking that this may be a resting time. So Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas`ood r.a. reminded them that him and his family will not be in ‘’ghaflah’’ or ‘’distracted’’ in such a time. Meaning it was no sleeping time. It is mubarak time to remember Allah Ta’ala.Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas`ood r.a. was sending someone to enquire about sunrise and during all that time before sunrise, he was continuously making tasbeeh of Allah Ta`ala. Then when the sun has risen he read the du`a:صحيح مسلم – (4 / 260)الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَقَالَنَا يَوْمَنَا هَذَا فَقَالَ مَهْدِيٌّ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَلَمْ يُهْلِكْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا *Alhamdulillahillazi aqaalanaa yaumanaa haaza wa lam youhliknaa bizounoubina.*(Sahih Muslim) *All praise be to Allah Ta’ala, the One who has risen this day upon us and He has not destroyed us due to our sins.*
صحيح مسلم – (4 / 260)حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ الْأَحْدَبُ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ غَدَوْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ يَوْمًا بَعْدَ مَا صَلَّيْنَا الْغَدَاةَ فَسَلَّمْنَا بِالْبَابِ فَأَذِنَ لَنَا قَالَ فَمَكَثْنَا بِالْبَابِ هُنَيَّةً قَالَ فَخَرَجَتْ الْجَارِيَةُ فَقَالَتْ أَلَا تَدْخُلُونَ فَدَخَلْنَا فَإِذَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ يُسَبِّحُ فَقَالَ مَا مَنَعَكُمْ أَنْ تَدْخُلُوا وَقَدْ أُذِنَ لَكُمْ فَقُلْنَا لَا إِلَّا أَنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَنَّ بَعْضَ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ نَائِمٌ قَالَ ظَنَنْتُمْ بِآلِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ غَفْلَةً قَالَ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ يُسَبِّحُ حَتَّى ظَنَّ أَنَّ الشَّمْسَ قَدْ طَلَعَتْ فَقَالَ يَا جَارِيَةُ انْظُرِي هَلْ طَلَعَتْ قَالَ فَنَظَرَتْ فَإِذَا هِيَ لَمْ تَطْلُعْ فَأَقْبَلَ يُسَبِّحُ حَتَّى إِذَا ظَنَّ أَنَّ الشَّمْسَ قَدْ طَلَعَتْ
So the time after Fajr is Mubarak and we are recommended to make the Zikr of Allah Ta`ala.Allah Ta`ala says in the Noble Quran:وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوب [ق : 39]‘’Proclaim the Purity together with your Lord’s Glory before sunrise and before sunset.’’(50:39)
It was not a practice of Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam to sleep after Fajr. He would sit in His musallah doing the Zikr of Allah Ta`ala(Abu Dawood)
: سنن أبى داود – (12 / 485)حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ تَرَبَّعَ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ حَسْنَاءَ
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ ثُمَّ قَعَدَ يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ كَانَتْ لَهُ كَأَجْرِ حَجَّةٍ وَعُمْرَةٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَامَّةٍ تَامَّةٍ تَامَّةٍسنن الترمذي
Reported by Annas r.a. that the beloved prophet Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam said: The one who prayed Fajr in congregation and then sit to do the Zikr of Allah until sunrise and then(after sunrise) pray 2 Rakaats, then he will get the reward of a Hajj and a Umrah. The beloved prophet SAW added 3 times: ‘‘(A hajj and a Umrah) fully accomplished and fully done’’.(Tirmizi)
Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam would used to turn after Fajr salaam to talk or listen to his sahabahs r.a.(Sahih Muslim) صحيح مسلم – (11 / 377)حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ الْعُطَارِدِيِّ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ قَالَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ هَلْ رَأَى أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ الْبَارِحَةَ رُؤْيَا
And reported in Abu Dawood that Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam made du`as of barkah for the morning time of the Ummah. Also sending jamaat time would be in the morning. So Hazrat Sakhr r.a. would profit from the morning time to open his business early and achieved great success in his business.
سنن أبى داود – (7 / 182)حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ حَدِيدٍ عَنْ صَخْرٍ الْغَامِدِيِّعَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِأُمَّتِي فِي بُكُورِهَا وَكَانَ إِذَا بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً أَوْ جَيْشًا بَعَثَهُمْ مِنْ أَوَّلِ النَّهَارِ وَكَانَ صَخْرٌ رَجُلًا تَاجِرًا وَكَانَ يَبْعَثُ تِجَارَتَهُ مِنْ أَوَّلِ النَّهَارِ فَأَثْرَى وَكَثُرَ مَالُهُ
Fuqahas have written that it is permissible to go to work after Fajr salaah, but since the time is so precious, it is classified as Makrooh to lose this precious time in sleep(Shami): حاشية رد المحتار على الدر المختار (حاشية ابن عابدين) وتكملته – (3 / 165)وَيُكْرَهُ النَّوْمُ قَبْلَ الْعِشَاءِ وَالْكَلَامُ الْمُبَاحُ بَعْدَهَا وَبَعْدَ طُلُوعِ الْفَجْرِ إلَى أَدَائِهِ ، ثُمَّ لَا بَأْسَ بِمَشْيِهِ لِحَاجَتِهِ ، وَقِيلَ يُكْرَهُ إلَى طُلُوعِ ذُكَاءَ ، وَقِيلَ إلَى ارْتِفَاعِهَا فَيْضٌ
One can sleep after sunrise if needed. But best to stand until nap time. As the above ayah of 3 intimacy times indicate. Although permissible to sleep after Fajr salaah.
السنن الكبرى – البيهقي – (5 / 255)أبو عبد الله الحافظ انا أبو العباس محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن محمد بن عبد الرحمن السرخسى الدغولى ببخارا ثنا جدى ثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن قهزاد ثنا أبو الوزير محمد بن اعين انا عبد الله عن سليمان بن بلال عن يحيى بن سعيد الانصاري عن انسابن مالك قال كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا صلى الفجر في السفر مشى – زاد فيه غيره – قليلا وناقته تقاد
Reported that Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam during a journey would leave the camel and walk after Fajr salaah.(Baihaqi)
Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam would sometimes walk and sometimes take the camel to go to Quba-5 kilometers from Masjid An Nabawi- every Saturday(Bukhari)
صحيح البخاري – (4 / 381)حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل حدثنا عبد العزيز بن مسلم عن عبد الله بن دينار عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما قالكان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يأتي مسجد قباء كل سبت ماشيا وراكبا وكان عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما يفعله
So Hazrat Ibn Umar r.a. would every Saturday pray Fajr in Masjid An Nabawi and then walk or take camel to Masjid Quba.(istizkaar) الاستذكار الجامع لمذاهب فقهاء الأمصار – ابن عبد البر – (2 / 262)وجرد حماد بن زيد هذا الحديث فرواه عن أيوب عن نافع قال كان عبد الله بن عمر يأتي مسجد قباء في كل سبت إذا صلى الغداة وكان يكره أن يخرج منه حتى يصلي فيه
All this to tell you that avoid sleeping after Fajr. Rather do zikr of Allah Ta`ala on your musalla or while taking the morning walk or involve yourself in any deeni or dunyawi activity to have barkahs. Makrooh to sleep over such mubarak time.
As a student, i appreciate ustaads Mowlana Suleiman Choksi sahab and Mufti Radha Ul Haq sahab Daamat Barakaatouhoum, both morning barakah vigils. So later, I tried to ink after Fajrs, Alhamdulillah.

*ÉVITEZ DE DORMIR APRÈS SALAAH FAJR JUSQU’AU LEVER DU SOLEIL.*
Normalement, c’est Makrooh de dormir à une telle heure qui vous fera manquer la salaah. C’est pourquoi les Fuqahas ont dit que c’est Makrooh de dormir avant Esha et aussi après sehri

Mais notez aussi qu’il est détesté/Makrooh de dormir après salaah Fajr.Ainsi dans le Coran Kareem, Allah Ta’ala a décrit 3 moments d’intimité liés au lit et au repos/temps intimes que les enfants devraient également demander la permission avant d’entrer dans la chambre d’un couple (24:58) :1. Avant la salaat de Fajr.2. À l’heure de la sieste pendant la journée.3. Après Salaat de Esha. Donc, selon le verset ci-dessus, nous ne sommes PAS censés dormir après la salaat de Fajr. Il est rapporté dans le Muslim shareef qu’Abu Wa-il ra a rendu visite à Hazrat Abudullah Ibn Mas`ood r.a. après la salaat de Fajr. Après avoir atteint la maison, même après avoir obtenu l’autorisation, ils ont hésité à y entrer pensant qu’il s’agissait peut-être d’un temps de repos. Donc Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas`ood r.a. leur a rappelé que sa famille et lui ne seront pas en ” ghaflah ” ou ” distraits ” dans un tel moment. Ce qui signifie que ce n’était pas l’heure de dormir. Il est temps pour Moubarak de se souvenir d’Allah Ta’ala.Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas`ood r.a. envoyait quelqu’un pour s’enquérir du lever du soleil et pendant tout ce temps avant le lever du soleil, il faisait continuellement le tasbeeh d’Allah Ta’ala. Puis, quand le soleil s’est levé, il a lu le du`a suivant :*Alhamdulillahillazi aqaalanaa yaumanaa haaza wa lam youhliknaa bizounoubina.* (Sahih Muslim) *Louange à Allah Ta’ala, Celui qui nous a fait voir le jour celui-ci et Il ne nous a pas détruits à cause de nos péchés.*Donc le temps après Fajr est Moubarak et on nous recommande de faire le Zikr d’Allah Ta’ala.Allah Ta’ala dit dans le Noble Coran :‘’Proclamez la pureté avec la gloire de votre Seigneur avant le lever et avant le coucher du soleil.’’ (50:39) Ce n’était pas une pratique de Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam de dormir après la salaat de Fajr. Il s’asseyait sur son musallah faisant le Zikr d’Allah Ta’ala (Abu Dawood):Rapporté par Annas r.a. que le prophète bien-aimé Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam a dit : Celui qui a prié le Fajr en congrégation puis s’est assis pour faire le Zikr d’Allah jusqu’au lever du soleil et ensuite (après le lever du soleil) a prié 2 Rakaats, alors il obtiendra la récompense d’un Hajj et d’une Omra. Le prophète bien-aimé SAW a ajouté 3 fois : ”(Un hajj et une Omra) pleinement accompli et pleinement accompli”. (Tirmizi) Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam avait pour habitude de se retourner vers ses sahabahs après le salaam du salaat de Fajr. (Sahih Muslim).Et rapporté de Abu Dawood que Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam a fait des du`as de barkah à l’heure du matin pour la Ummah. L’envoi de jamaat serait également fait le matin. Donc Hazrat Sakhr r.a. profiterait de l’heure du matin pour ouvrir son commerce tôt et obtenir un grand succès dans son commerce. Les fuqahas ont écrit qu’il est permis d’aller travailler après la salaat de Fajr, mais comme le temps est si précieux, il est classé comme Makrooh de perdre ce temps aussi précieux dans le sommeil (Shami) : On peut dormir après le lever du soleil si nécessaire. Mais mieux vaut rester debout jusqu’à l’heure de la sieste. Comme l’indique le verset ci-dessus des 3 temps d’intimité. Bien qu’il soit permis de dormir après Fajr Salaah. Il a été rapporté que pendant un voyage Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam a laissé son chameau et il a marchait après la salaat de Fajr. (Baihaqi) Des fois Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam marchait et d’autres fois il prenait le chameau pour aller à Quba à 5 kilomètres de Masjid An Nabawi- tous les samedis (Bukhari).Donc Hazrat Ibn Umar r.a. priait tous les samedis le Fajr à Masjid An Nabawi, puis marchait ou emmenait à dos de chameau jusqu’à Masjid Quba. (istizkaar) Tout ça pour vous dire qu’il faut éviter de dormir après le Fajr. Faites plutôt le zikr d’Allah Ta’ala sur votre musalla ou pendant la promenade matinale ou impliquez-vous dans toute activité deeni ou dunyawi pour avoir des barkahs. Makrooh de dormir pendant un tel temps moubarak.
