Chapter of Salaat

Q) In Malaysia or Madinah, if the azan for asar goes on, should we wait for the hanafi time to come in or can we read namaz at that same time?
A) Due to being in a journey, it is permissible for hanafis to perform salah at that time when the azan goes on.

Q) Eski gagne droit sorti en dehors masjid pou alle donne azaan dans i`tiqaaf? 2. Eski gagne droit faire ghusl pou Jum`ah dans i`tiqaaf ? A) 1. Oui li permissible pou donne azaan meme pou sorti pou sa parski li ene necessite de shariat pou donne azaan. Mais si ena l`autre dimoune ki capave donner, alors laisse zote donner.

Q) Is it compulsory to give adhaan with wudhu?
A) No, not compulsory.

Q) Can one make zikr or recite the Qur’aan while azaan is goin on?
A) If a person is making zikr or reciting the Qur’aan while the azaan is going, it is mustahab for him to leave it and listen to the azaan and respond to it.

Q) Is it correct that we must not mingle the wordings while reading the Iqaamat,e.g. Hayya Alasswalaatihayya Alasswalaah. Instead, we should read Hayya Alasswalaah-Hayya Alasswalaah?
A) Recommended.

Q) Is it necessary to read the Iqaamat when replacing a swalaat at home or in the masjid itself?
A) Recommended, not necessary.

Q) There are some masjids where the phrases in iqaamah is read only once, without repeating.
A) Both ways are reported, but reading twice will definitely bring more rewards.

Q) In the minutes following azaan and before iqaamah, is it allowed to replace a missed namaz instead of performing sunnat ghair moakkada?
A) Yes

Q) Do i have to give azaan if i’m reading zohar salah before azaan goes on (after zawaal) due to my work?
A) It’s not necessary to give azaan but it’s recommended. Thus, if facilities are available for you to give azaan, then do so.

A) Vrai.
Q) Peut on lire la sourah An Naas dans un cycle (rakaah) suivant un rakaah où la sourah An Falaq (plus courte?) a été lue?
A) Sans probleme.

Q) Is it necessary to make Qiraat aloud when replacing a Jahri swalaat alone?
A) No.

Q) What is the limit of ‘jahr’ and ‘sirr’ in salaah?
A) ‘Sirr’ is to recite the Quraan, in salaah, in such a way that one hears his own voice, without anyone else around hearing him. ‘Jahr’ is to recite the Quraan, in salaah, in such a way that the person next to him can hear him reading. Thus if a person recites the Quraan (in salaah) in such a way that he is pronouncing every letter correctly but he can’t hear himself reading, then his salaah will be void, according to the ‘mufta bihi qawl’. Because, moving the tongue only, without sound is not called Qiraat.

Q) When performing zohar or asr behind the imaam, must we also read or must we keep quiet. Same for esha and maghrib in the third and fourth rakaat?
A) One should not read anything and stay quiet behind the imam in all the salaah.

Q) When performing salaat alone, should we read slightly louder so that we hear what we are reading?
A) Hearing is not a condition for validity of salaah. Pronouncing with the movement of the lips is a condition for salaah. Hence it is not necessary to read audibly during the salaah alone. But in tahajjud, it is sunnah to read audible.

Q) Whilst in a social gathering, can a group of men perform their salaat in their own jamat even if there is a mosque nearby?
A) Permissible once when there are valid reasons, but not frequently.

Q) What to do if the imam got up in the 4th rakaat by mistake and then sat down when corrected by mussallis? Is sijda sahu valid here?
A) Sajdah sahu should be done and this would be sufficient to correct the salaah.

Q) When performing salah behind an imam, if the imam happens to read 5 rakat instead of four rakat, should the namaz be repeated or will sajdah sahw suffise?
A) If the imam did not sit on the fourth rakat, than it will be necessary to repeat the salah.

Q) Can husband and wife read tahajjud in jamat?
A) Permissible, but not every day.

Q) If a group of people decided to perform tahajjud salah in masjid, can they perform it in jamat?
A) No, not allowed.

Q) Near my place of work there is a place where we can perform salaat. How many people are needed so that we can do salaat in jamaat? do we need to do azaan before performing salaat?
A) 2 persons is enough for jamaat. For jum`ah read conditions on web. Azaan is important, so do give azaan and do iqaamah.

Q) Whilst in a social gathering, can a group of men perform their salaat in their own jamat even if there is a mosque nearby?
A) Permissible once when there are valid reasons, but not frequently.

Q) If a woman is at the masjid for Salaat, e.g if she is at university or work during these time, should she read along with the jamaat?
A) No.

Q) Is it compulsory for the imam to have a beard (fist length or longer)? Is there any reference?
A) Yes, it is mentioned in a Bukhari hadith that the prophet peace be upon him said: ''Oppose the non muslims and let grow your beard and take out your moustache.'' It is mentioned in the same narration that Ibn Umar (r.a.) used to hold a fist length of his beard and used to cut it. The prophet`s beard was so long that it was noticeable from behind. The beard filled the space by the collarbones. Abu Bakr, Umar and all that stood on musalla of prophet (saw) had all beard. The holy prophet p.b.u.h. showed unlikeness of the person who had no beard. Basing on hadith mentioned in Bukhari, Fuqaha has disqualified someone who imitate non muslim and mushrik to lead the salaah as an imam. Hence it is compulsory for the imam to have beard of a fist length.

Q) Is it permissible that in a masjid, the first saff is divided into 3parts due to 2 pillars? some ppl say that there is a sahih hadeeth that prohibits that.
A) It is permissible to read salaah between pillars since the holy prophet prayed between pillars in the holy Ka`bah.

Q) How many men are needed at least to perform namaz in jamaat?
A) 2 is minimum.

A) 1. Oui,

Q) Can we pray tahajjud in jamaat?
A) Makrooh tahreemi and forbidden. One should read alone.

Q) Should a masbooq read douroud and dua in the last part of the imam`s salaah?
A) No. The masbooq will read only tashahud (attihiyat). It is better for him to read the tashahud slowly or to repeat ‘’Ash hadu alla ilaha illallah...’’. Shami (2:220):
Bahrur Ra-iq (1:575); Ghunyatul musalli (469)

Q) Can a person who does not have beard of length greater than the size of a fist act as imaam for a faraz salaat or is it preferable that the mussalli do their salaat individually rather than behind him?
A) Mussalli should in any case do their salaah behind the imam and inform the mutawalli about this fact.

Q) Is it haraam to read silently behind an imam?
A) It is makroohe Tahreemi to read any sourah behind the imam. One may read surah Fatiha in the mind and heart. (Abu Dawood)

Q) Reading Ameen loudly in jamaat after imaam has read surah faatiha?
A) Men may read Ameen slightly audibly, such that one may hear oneself. No need to read aloud even more than Sourah Fatiha itself.

Q) Who is a masbooq?
A) Masbooq is the one who missed the ruku` of the first rakaat with the imam.

Q) If the imam has already started with the farz of fajr salah, can i read the 2 sunnat first and then join the jamat?
A) Yes, if you have hope of caching up with the jamaat.

Q) If the jamaat is in sijda when a person arrives, should he join the jamaat immediately or wait that the imaam stands up for the following rakaat?
A) It is recommended to join salaah in any posture of salaah. As such join in sijdah when the imam is in Sijdah.

Q) I know that it has been written in hadith that an individual can read sura fatiha in congregation wen imaam is reading silently, but concerning hanafi madhab, is it recomended?
A) We wish to know the hadith that you said. Nonetheless, according to hadith and hanafi mazhab, one should abstain from reading during qiyaam behind the imam.

Q) I am a woman and had never prayed in jamaat. Please explain what do i have to read and not read while praying namaz in jamaat.
A) You don`t need to pray in jamaat. Ahadiths clearly indicate that jamaats are for men and not women. The hadith of Bukhari that the holy prophet wish to put fire in those homes that their menfolk do not pray in jamaat. But because of women and children in the homes, the holy prophet stated. That man is exhorted to perform salaah in jamaat while women are supposed to be at home. There is a hadith mentioned in Sahih Ibn Hibbaan, Sahih Ibn Khuzaimah et Musnad Ahmad that the holy prophet encouraged women to read salaah at home:

Q) Can one perform sunan while jamaat is standing?
A) When jamaat is standing for salaah, it is inappropriate to read sunan that time, because the Prophet Muhammad (saw) has said:”When jamaat is standing then there is no salaah except fardh salaah”. However, if someone is performing sunnat of fajr and there is no fear of missing the fardh of fajr with jamaat (i.e he’ll be able to perform one rakaah with the imaam or he’ll join the imaam in qaadah) then he may perform his sunnat.

Q) What is the correct way of standing in the saf during swalaat?
A) To put your heels on the line of the saff.

Q) I often notice people starting to pray the sunnah for fajr although fard has already started with jamaat. Is this correct?
A) The importance of sunnate muakkadah of Fajr is such that the prophet said that even if you are in danger of the enemy, still do not miss this 2 rakats. Hence sahabas like `Abdullah bin `umar used to read this sunna even if they missed the first takbeer of farz. But bear in mind that the sawaab of sunnah cannot surpass the sawaab of the farz. Hence if you think that you will miss completely your farz in performing the sunnah, then replace the sunnah after sunrise (Ishraaq time) and join the farz. Fuqaha stated that if you hope that in performing the 2 sunnahs, you will get jama`t with the imam, i.e. in the last qa-idah before salaam, then you may read your sunnah. Else join the imam in the farz.

Q) While standing in the saf should shoulders touch or is it permissible to stand without touching the persons on our right and left?
A) It is mustahab to touch softly.

Q) I joined the salaah of the imam on the 3rd Rakat of Zuhr. The imam made salaam after tashahud on the 4th Rakat for 2 sajdahs of Sahw. Should I make that salaam?
A) A masbooq (the one who joined salaah after ruku`) should not follow the imam when the imam make salaam for sajdah sahw. He will follow the imam only in the 2 sajdahs sahw and read tashahud again with the imam. Finally when the imam will make the last salaam (2nd), the masbooq will stand up to complete his missed salaah. In this case he will stand up and read surah fatiha and a surah, ruku` and sajdahs. Then he will sit for tashahud. Then stand up to read surah fatihah and a surah. Then after sajdahs he will stand up to read only surah fatiha. Then finally finish the salaah normally.
Q) I missed one rakat with the imam. Forgetfully I made salaam with the imam. After a few seconds I realised that I have to complete my salaah. I stood up and completed the one rakaat. Will sajdah-e-sahw be waajib or not?
A) On the condition that you did not perform (after your mistaken salaam with the imam) any action that may break your salaah, like talking, turning your chest away from the qiblah for 45 degrees or more, or do any action that one would judge that you are not in salaah, then only you may stand up to complete your salaah. If you did any of these actions, then the whole salaah has to be done again. Else if you did not do any action that may break your salaah after the mistaken salaam, then the masla is that if you made salaam exactly with the salaam of the imam or before the salaam of the imam, then sajdah-e-sahw will not be waajib. And if you made salaam after the salaam of the imam (even slightly afterwards), then sajdah-e-sahw will be waajib; and generally people tend to make salam after the imam’s salaam, thus sajdah-e-sahw will be waajib. (Durre mukhtar, Badai-sanai`)

Q) What is the direction of Qibla according to a magnetic compass for Mauritius?
A) 23.5 degress on the west side from true north.

Q) In case we made intention for a wrong salaat (faraz instead of sunnat) and we realise only after making takbir, what should we do? how do we annul the salaat?
A) You may continue the salaat since the error may be the wordings. The main niyat is in the heart and the brain.

Q) Some say a woman's awra whilst performing salat consists of the whole body except the face, hands and feet while others say women must cover their feet as well. Due to these divergence in opinions, can a women cover her feet just to be on the safe side?
A) Feet is not awrah during salaah. One has the option to cover it though.
Q) I had put on neat clothes and it got wet with cat's urine. Can i perform salah with these clothes?
A) No, cannot perform salaah with these clothes.

Q) What is the satar of a man in and outside salaah?
A) Satar of a man starts from the navel till below the knees. It is waajib to cover this amount of body in and outside salaah. If a quarter of any part of the body, within the satar limit, stays open for a period of a rukn (the time needed to recite three times subhaana rabbi yal a’ala) in salaah, then the salaah will become void.

Q) If, while performing salah a woman's sleeves opens up, showing her wrist, will her salah break?
A) No. Unless, a quarter of her arm (from the wrist till the elbow) opens up for 3 tasbeeh (6 seconds).

Q) Should women cover their feet (eg., by wearing socks) in swalaat?
A) No.

Q) Can salaah be performed with bel-bottom trousers?
A) When a person wearing bel-bottom trousers goes in sajdah or rouku, his shirt goes up and his trousers slides down; due to which his satar opens up. Thus, his own salaah becomes void and he becomes a means of interruption in other people’s salaah. Therefore it is makrooh-e-tahrimi to wear such clothes while performing salaah.

Q) What is the law pertaining to “t'adeel-ul-arkaan” in qawma and jalsa?
A)  To perform every posture of salaah calmly is called ta`deele arkaan.
Qawma: when standing up from rouku.
Jalsa: to sit between the two sajdahs.
Both are wajibs. But if we don`t perform the qawmah and jalsa conveniently, our salaah may be null and void. As such, care should be taken to stand a few seconds in qawmah and to sit a few seconds in jalsah. If we stick to read these duas, then surely our qawmah and jalsah would be satisfied promptly:

Qawmah du`a:

Rabbanaa wa lakal Hamdou hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubarakan feeh. (Bukhari)
O our Lord, all glory for you, best of glorification abundantly and blessed glory.

Jalsah dua :

Allahoummagh fir li war Ham li wahdini wa `afini war zuqni. (Mustadrak Hakim)
O Lord forgive me, pity me, guide me, bless me well being and feed me.

Q) Is, lifting up the feet while in sajdah, a breaking factor of salaah?

A) While in sajdah, if a person lifts up both his feet in such a way that not a single toe also stays on the ground, and he remains like that the amount of a rukn (i.e the time required to read three times subhaana rabbi yal a’ala), then his salaah will not be correct.

Q) Should one raise the hands towards the sky while making dua?
A) It is preferable/better to open both hands widely and to keep a small gap between them while making dua. Similarly it is mustahab to keep the hands in line with the chest, facing the sky. It is proven from most of the mashaaikh to pass the hands over the face upon the completion of the dua. The dua should be made softly :” ادعوا ربكم تضرعا و خفية”. But if the objective is to teach the way of making dua, then there is no harm in making the dua loudly, with condition that the dua mustn’t be so loud that the masbooqeen get disturbed in their salaah.

Q) In some masjids the imam makes dua in jamaat after fard swalaat. In others muslims recite individually without raising their hands. Please tell us which is the correct one?
A) Both are correct. One is according to the practice of Rasouloullah(saw), the other is according to the sayings of the prophet(saw). If you know the masnoon du`as in Arabic, then you may opt for individual du`as. Else you may join the audible du`a and say amen. Else we councel that it is better to join a collective du`a rather and then continue with your individual du`as afterwards.

Q) Is there any harm in cracking of knuckles in salaah?
A) It is makrooh-e-tahrimi to crack your knuckles in salaah, because it’s a useless act.Otherwise, outside salaah it is makrooh-e-tanzihi to crack the knuckles for no reason (i.e one does not crack his knuckles to feel relaxed)

Q) Can a man perform salaah bareheaded ?
A) To perform salaah bareheaded, without an excuse or out of laziness, is makrooh. However, to perform salaah bareheaded due to a reason or because one regards himself insignificant, is permissible.

Q) Should one wear trousers below the ankles;inside and outside salaah?
A) Shariah prohibits a man to wear his trousers below the ankles whether its in salaah or outside salaah, because it’s a sign of pride.

Q) Is it a sin to pass in front of a muswalli?
A) It is a great sin to pass in front of a person performing salaah.Nabi (saw) said:”If the person passing in front of a muswalli, knows what a sin it is to do so, then it would be better for him to stand for forty years rather than passing in front of a muswalli.”(Tirmizi) If a person is performing salaah in a field or a big masjid (measuring 334-451 meter), then it will be permissible to pass, leaving two rows, in front of the muswalli. And if it’s a small masjid (measuring less than the big masjid) then it will not be permissible to pass in front of the muswalli at all. If someone does pass, he will be sinful. However, the person sitting just in front of the muswalli is allowed to get up and go.

Q) Can one fix his clothes in salaah?
A) If a person fixes his trousers while going in sajdah, or fixes his shirt after getting up from rouku, without any need and without making an ‘amal-e-katheer’ then such an act is makrooh-e-tahreemi. And if it’s due to a need, then it is permissible without any dislike. And if an ‘amal-e-katheer’ was done, then this will break the salaah.

Q) Can one perform salaah in inferior clothes?
A) To perform salaah in clothes, that a person would not like wearing them for a wedding or for going out (e.g nighty), is makrooh-e-tanzihi.

Q) Is yawning permissible in salaah?
A) To yawn in salaah is a sign of negligence, tiredness and laziness. Therefore, one should abstain from it and to try to suppress it as much as possible. But if one couldn’t hold it then he should place his hand in front of his mouth. While standing he should place his right hand and in other postures he should place his left hand. The way to do it, is that a person should place the back of his hand on his mouth. It is makrooh to leave the mouth open when yawning whether in salaah or outside salaah.

Q) Are women allowed to attend taraweeh and tahajud in masjids, as organised by some?
A) No. Women are prescribed to do their salaahs at home and individually.

Q) What to do if a person brings alcohol bottle in the masjid and drinks?
A) He should be stopped from doing this. The mutawalli should react because alcohol is haram and impure. If the person does not stop, than he should be prohibited from coming to the masjid.

Q) At times there are programs in masjid after esha and sisters are invited and gathered on the first floor..should they do the 4 faraz in esha behind imaam or should they do on their own? Does it depend if they have a mahram in the jamaat?
A) First of all it is not a good practice to assemble women in masjid arena. Rather keep them away and have the microphone to their respective houses. For the salaah to be valid, the imam should make intention of leading salaah for women as well. Since there are complexities to the maslas, then if one happen to be there, then it is better to read salaah individually.

Q) Is it a sin to speak of worldly affairs in the masjid?
A) It is a great sin and makrooh to speak in masjid without a shar’ee reason, because it is disrespectful to the masjid. Nabi (saw) said:”A time will come when people will sit in masjid to discuss their worldly affairs, you must not sit with them, because those who speak of worldly affairs in masjid, Allah does not care about them.” It is also reported from Sa’ib Ibn Yazeed that I was sleeping in masjid when someone threw a pebble at me.I looked and I saw Oumar (ra), telling me: go and call those two men for me. When I brought them, oumar (ra) asked them:” Who are you? (or where are you from?).” They said they are from Taa’if. Oumar (ra) then said:”if you were from Madinah, I would have punished you; you are raising your voice in the masajid of Rasoolullah(saw).”

Q) Where exactly in the Quraan forbids women to go to masjid?
A) The holy prophet (saw) said that the salaah of a woman at home is better than that outside.(Abu Dawood) Besides, our mother hazrat Aisha (r.a.) who is regarded as a pinnacle between sahabas in the educational arena said that ‘’Had the prophet found our era, He would surely prevent women from going to Masjids.’’ And did Allah Ta`ala not say? :’’ And stay at home.’’(33:33)

Q) How should women perform namaz taraweeh?
A) Alone, individually and read the last ten surahs in sequence.

Q) Is witr still ok if i forget to read doah qunoot in 3 rd rakaat?
A) Dua qunoot is wajib in witr. Hence witr will not be valid unless do 2 sajdahs sahu. Have to redo if have not done 2 sajdahs.

Q) How to perform witr salah?
A) Witr is performed as such: Read the two first rakats normally and then stand up for third rakat after tashahud. Read surah fatiha and then a surah. Then say takbeer and lift your hands and read du`a qunoot. Then say takbeer and go in ruku` and complete the salaah normally.

Q) Till what time can i read witr?

A) Yes.

Q) How to perform Sijda-e-Sahwah?
A) Read the attihiyat in the last sitting position and then make one salaam on your right shoulder. After that prostate two sajdahs a little longer than usual. Then resit to read attihiyat, durood and dua.

Q) If we forget to make one sajdah in one rakat, can we replace it in the next rakat, thus making three sajdahs, and at the end make sajda sahw?
A) You should absolutely replace it next rakaat and make sajdah sahw.

Q) What should be done when one reads surah Fatiha, twice in one rakaah?
A) If someone, forgetfully, read surah fatiha twice in one rakaah, then because of delaying the recitation of a short surah, sajdah sahwa becomes waajib. But if he repeats the surah fatiha after reading the short surah, then sajdah sahwa is not waajib. And if someone reads surah fatiha twice in the last two rakaats of a fardh salaah , then too sajdah sahwa is not waajib.

Q) What should one do if one forgot to read dua-e-qunoot?
A) If someone forgot to read dua-e-qunoot in the last rakah of witr salaah and he remembered only after going in the rouku, then he should just complete his salaah and perform sajdah sahwa at the end.

Q) Someone doubts of performing a rukn or not, while in salaah and starts thinking, will sajdah sahwa be necessary?
A) If someone doubts of performing a rukn or not, while in salaah, and starts thinking for the amount of a rukn (time required to read three times ‘subhaanallah’), he neither reads qiraat nor makes zikr, then sajdah sahwa will become waajib. But if he was reading salaah while thinking, then sajdah sahwa will not be waajib.

Q) If someone has a ‘ghaalib gumaan’ of leaving out a rakaat after qaadah-e-akhirah. What should he do?
A) If someone has a ‘ghaalib gumaan’of leaving out a rakaah after qaadah akhira and immediately stands up to perform that rakaah, before or after making salaam, and then he remembers performing that rakaah already. Q) When does sajdah-e-sahw becomes waajib?
A) Sajdah-e-sahw becomes waajib with the delay in a farz act, or by omission or delay in a waajib act

A) No, in fact if the tilawat is on air pre-recorded, then sajdah not applicable. But yes if it is live direct, then sajdah applicable. But do listen to them because most of them are not live direct and hence no sajdahs are incumbent.

Q) How many sijda to be performed when reading Quran and in what verses?
A) 14 sajdahs total. The places are marked in all Qur-aans.

Q) Can we do sijda tilawat while sitting at the place where Quran is read? Do we have to stand up and make a proper sijda?
A) It is more rewardable to stand up and do the sajdah tilawat. But it is also permissible to do the sajdah from a sitting posture. Read Allahu Akbar, go in sajdah and read at least 3 times subhanarabbiyal a`laa. Read allahu akbar to stand again.

But if the imaam makes intention of sajdah tilaawat in the rouku and the muqtadees didn’t, the muqtadees’ sajdah sahwa will not be “ada”.The muqtadees will have to then perform the sajdah tilaawat after the imaam makes salaam and they will have to repeat the qaadah-e-akhira, make salaam and thus complete their salaah. Therefore, it is better that the imaam should not make intention of sajdah tilaawat in the rouku. A) Since you were obliged by circumstances, your Jum`ah Khutbah and salaah may be valid with Arabic wordings. But many `ulamas argues that khutbah in any other language than Arabic endangers the acceptance of the khutbah itself. Khutbah is wajib and a Coranic ordain and as such cannot be made to adapt to people`s expectation. As such optionally going and performing Khutbah in other language other than Arabic is definitely out of evidence from the Coranic and Sunnah point of view and endangers one`s jum`ah. Secondly the day of Jum`ah is certainly venerated by men and women but there are no special direct applications for women. The sunnah bath and preparation for Jum`ah salaah and khutbah is applied only for men (Bukhari). As such women would pray Zuhr as usual and that also at their homes or in their prayer facilities. But they may certainly read lot of duroods on Nabi (saw) to get closer to Nabi (saw).

Q) Is it necessary to stay quiet during jumah khutbah?
A) It is waajib to stay quiet during jumah khutbah. It is mentioned in a hadith that one should not even tell a person next to him to keep quiet. Therefore, when the imaam recites the ayat : "إن الله و ملائكته يصلون على النبي" the muqtadees should read durood in their heart, not with their tongue.

There they should repent and should discharge their rights and dues of those which may be due. They should not take any non-believer and rejecters with them. They should offer two Raka'ats of prayer without Azan and Iqamat in congregation and the Imam should recite loudly. Then the 2 sermons like eid should be given and then the imam should stand up facing the qiblah and raising both hands should pray to Allah for rain and all the followers should also pray. This should be done for successively 3 days and not more. But if it rains before going to the jungle or just after one day of the prayer even then three days should be completed. It is appreciable to fast during the three days and give sadaqa before going for the prayer.

I was like shocked and quizzed about this situation and many questions arose in my head. Having already read an article from you on that subject stipulating that woman going to masjid is forbidden, if i got you right, because of nowadays fitnah. But my main question will be that what fitnah was there to forbid a mayyat(woman) from entering the main hall of prayer? A) The imam was right to refuse the mayyit from going through the shar`eemasjid (main masjid hall). This the general rule that apply to all mayyit, and specifically women mayyit. The reason is that the holy prophet (SAW) prescribed that the area of masjid is for `ibadat and any impurities should be kept away from the masjid. Example: If someone missed 2 rakaats from Maghrib: stand up after salaam and sit in the first rakaat that you performed. You need to sit because this is the second rakaat of your salaah. In this rakaat you would have to read surah fatiha and a surah because this is the qiraat of the first rakaat of Maghrib. If you missed three rakaats of Zuhr, then after salaam stand to read Surah Fatiha and a surah and then sit in this rakaat. Then stand up to read surah fatiha and a surah but after sajdah, you would stand up and read only surah fatiha.

Nonetheless, the virtues of the night is supported by other ahadiths in other books like Tirmizi, Baihaqi, Tabrani, Musnad Ahmad and Shu`abul Imaan. Else nobody can contest the virtue of fasting in the month of Sha`baan and hence particularly the 13th, 14th and 15th day of the month. The hadith of Bukhari is clear enough to enlighten us that the prophet fasted almost the whole month of Sha`baan. As such it is recommended to fast during the month and also on the 15th day of Sha`baan.
