Aqaai'd (Beliefs)

Q) Are the five pillars of Islam farz-e-ain?
A) Yes, Iman, salah and roza are farz-e-ain. Zakat and Hajj are farz if a person has the means.

A) Hazrat Mowlana Desai sahib is one of the greatest scholar of our era. But his way of proceeding towards SANHA and other ulamas and respected established organisations is not correct. By doing so, he is taking out confidence of the public in ulamas. Mowlana has contributed lot in fiqhi massail, but we owe a lot to SANHA also who has established halaal norms internationally.

Q) I would like to know why the order of surahs in the Qur'an are not in the sequence in which they were revealed to Rasoullullah Sallallahou alayhi wa sallam. Is there a specific reason for this?
A) Revelation was according to Allah`s will together with some context. The order of the Qur-aan is as it is in the lohe mahfooz from whence Allah Ta `ala wrote it. So we have iqra` revealed first ayahs, but it is the 96th Sourah. This classification is part of the revelation revealed to the holy prophet SAW.

Q) We are not allowed to associate anything or anybody with Allah and He is the only Lord. Yet in the course of my duty I am required to attend court sessions and am required to address the sitting judge as "my lord" or "your lordship" is there a way of getting round this? I find it very difficult to label anyone as Lord apart from Allah. Is it shirk to call the Judge by the appellation of 'Lord' or Your Lordship then? Because that's the protocol and you can get jailed for contempt of court otherwise.
A) There, lord does not mean God. One can pronounce lord as Chief or the judge. Landlord appelation is not god. I found this in the dictionary:
1. A person who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler.
2. A person who exercises authority from property rights; an owner of land, houses, etc.
3. A person who is a leader or has great influence in a chosen profession: the great lords of banking.
4. A feudal superior; the proprietor of a manor.
5. A titled nobleman or peer; a person whose ordinary appellation contains by courtesy the title Lord or some higher title.
Hence when one is calling lord in the court, he is not meaning God, but the other meanings like a Nobleman.

Q) If the father of a child has agreed and forces the mother to abort a child after 4 moths, should the mother still give money to the child's father?  What should the mother do because the father does not care about what happened.
A) Inform the father of the maslas and tell him that it was a crime to do so. The result of a crime is death penalty in this world and innumerous amount of years in hell. We should make tawbah and istighfaar.

Q) How will someone who dies at sea or by other conditions where their body have never been found receive the punition of the qabr when actually their body have not been put in a qabr?
A) Barzakh is a dimension that does not need air, sand or water to be applied. Pharaoh is undergoing Azaab e Qabr although that his body is laying still in front of everyone. Like someone who is sleeping and enduring pain in his dream cannot be resented by someone by him, in the same way the life of Barzakh is complex and cannot be understood here. Allah Ta`ala told us that martyrs are alive in their qabrs or in the sea:'' Et ne dites pas de ceux qui sont tués dans le sentier d’Allah(61) qu’ils sont morts.

Q) Is ba'yat permissble in Islam?
A) Yes. Bai`at tawbah permissible.

Q) Is the prophet Muhammad (saw) still alive as some mufti claims?
A) The holy prophet SAW is alive in his qabr. If Martyrs are alive, then definitely our holy prophet SAW is alive. Q) I heard that if a young muslim person gets a deadly disease and is suffering, all his sins are forgiven and he gets jannat?. Is it true?
A) Any sickness or difficulty that any muslim encounters, purifies him from sins. In ahadiths, we find that even a night of fever cleans a person completely of sins. So definitely an acute sickness do purify a muslim from all sins insha Allah.

Q) I am having a great debate with my friends about whether Shab e Baraat should be 'celebrated' and more importantly, whether 'Halwa' should be cooked or not ! What's your point of view in this matter?
A) Do read our article on the subject on the web. Shabe Baraat is a great night where Allah Ta`ala forgives lot of muslims. One should take opportunity to spend the night in ibadat and duas. The next day is also recommended to fast. This is how we should veneer Shabe Baraat. Nothing more nothing less.

Q) Is it permissible to do ziarat in a dargah in qabrastan?

Q) Some groups are saying that we should not say Laa illah haa illallahhou mohamodou rassoullah, but instead we should only say laa illah haa illallah..
A) No, this have been wrongly stated. Our kalimah is laa ilaaha illallahou mouhammadurrasouloullah. In fact where in ahadiths where it is mentioned laa ilaaha illallah, one should completely read laailaaha illallahou muhammadurrasouloullah.

Therefore the instructor should be informed that this is contrary to the religion of Islam and that it should be stopped immediately and instead, Salām should be made. If this is not possible, then another instructor should be sought or otherwise this form of self defense should be stopped and some other exercises adopted which are free of such practices contrary to Islam. (Fatāwā Hindiyya vol.5 pg 369)

Although they claim that they follow the Qur-aan, the Qadianis don`t believe in ahadiths. They are not muslim since our belief is that there is no prophet after Muhammad p.b.u.h. And since they rejected mutawatir ahadiths (famous ones), then they are Kafir.

Q) Since our fate is written in Lawhe Mahfooz ages before our birth or creation, and what has been written will come to pass and follows the will of Allah, Is our Rab indirectly responsible for creating and causing humans to sin as not a leaf moves without Allah's will ? I have read that if a people did not commit sin Allah would replace them with one that does so in order to forgive them when they ask taubah. Is this true?
A) Allah has created us and we are not complete subjects to our fate. Jabriyyahs or those who believe that we completely subject our fate are not Ahle Sunnah wal Jama`ah. Nor are Qadriyyahs or those who believe that we are creators of our fate and there is no destiny. We are in fact Ahle sunnah wal jama`ah who believe that God created fate, but we have choices in our hands , and for the consequences of these choices that we will be liable to either punishment or awarded. Like someone believe that rizq or your pay packet are already destined, but still make effort to attain it through work, business, etc it should be clear that in all aspects of life , one should make effort. This is what is described in some articles on web.

Q) How did Iblees tempt Hazrat Adam Alayhis Salaam and his wife who were in Jannah when he was expelled from Jannah for refusing to perform sajdah?
A) Through waswassah- talking into the ears or blowing in the mind. Tafseers talk about either through snake or from far he hypnotized Adam and his wife.

Q) It is well known that Allah Soubhanahou wa ta aala is Ar Rahman yet his punishment of Iblees appears harsh in as much as Iblees had been obedient and performed lots of ibaadat before this. (I am raising the question because I feel in danger that Allah may not consider previous good deeds while meting out punishment for one mistake. Why wasn't Iblees forgiven? Was it for failing to ask for forgiveness? We people of the earth sin thousand of times more than this yet our Rab overlooks our mistakes. Even Adam Alayhis Salaam was not shown leniency in spite of a mistake which was his one and only. What can we expect from our Lord in this matter in terms of leniency?
A) There are some qualities that eat up good deeds. These qualities are proudness and jealousy. In the ahadith it is mentinned that jealousy eat up our good deeds like fire destroy wood. Hence we should be careful of those qualities in us that may destroy our previous deeds. For example, a practising muslim if he convert into Christian(may Allah save us), and then die on Christianity, then all his good actions will be cancelled and he will thrown into hell with Iblees.
The crux analysis between the two is written in the Qur-aan. When Adam realised his mistake, he turned to Allah in regret and repentance. But Iblees showed arrogance even in front of his Creator and still persist that he is better than Adam. Hence in one hadith it is mentioned that if Iblees want to repent, he can still go make sajdah of Adam even now. But still he refused. So his proudness brought him to call people to worship him. He is rejected and now Kafir and deemed for hell fire.

Q) Why has Allah Soubhanahou wa ta aala ordered Iblees to prostrate in sajdah in front of Hazrat Adam Alayhis Salaam? I am asking because sajdah forms part of worship which only Allah Soubhanahou wa ta aala is deserving and shirk is the gravest of sins in his eyes, yet Allah orders the Jinn to do so and even curses him with eternal damnation for refusing to do so.
A) This sajdah is not to pray someone, but to show respect to someone. Allah Ta`ala ordered a sajdah of respect to Adam a.s. and that was His wish that we cannot question. Sajdah of worship is only to Allah Ta`ala. Shaitaan turned away from the order that Allah gave him because of his pride and ego.

Q) Is it true that Qayamaat will be on a friday. Is there any Hadith or Quraan reference about that?
A) Yes it is true that the Qiyaamat day will be a Friday. The hadeeth is in Muslim Shareef.

Q) Someone told me that the fast that i kept for ashoora is not valid as i have not yet replaced my missing fast of Ramadhan. But i've read on the internet that if there is still plenty of to replace the missing fast of Ramadhan then the ashoora or arafat fast counts as nafil. Please cealrify.
A) Your roza would be counted as per the intention done. So it will be counted as nafil. But a fact that since you have qazas on you, you had better replaced your qazas before doing nafil.

Q) Are there any special namazs and/or Doauhs to be made during Ashura?
A) No.

Q) Is it permissible to attend Majlees during the month of muharram?
A) No. It is not a practice of Rasouloullah SAW and sahabas. Should you bring forward a hadith to this effect, then I would also attend these majalis.

Q) Eski ena hadeeth lor mete sourma Ithmid jour Ashoura?

Q) Could you list out all the good deeds mentioned in ahadith which makes jannah waajib for a muslim? When saying that jannah becomes waajib, does it mean it guarantees entry in jannah without having to be punished for sins or at some point the person will be forgiven but only after being punished for his sins. Although it is fuly agreed that Allah is Ar Rahmaan and his mercy overtakes his wrath and is the only one able to forgive a sinner.
A) Even though some actions like a night vigil in the path of Allah, giving one`s life in the path of Allah, feeding a poor child while one is in need, in one day: feed, salaatul janazah, roza and visit a sick are mentioned in ahadiths as making jannah wajib, but still this is not a passport guaranteed to jannah. Definitely these actions are appreciated and liked by Allah so much that the prophet said that these makes jannah becomes wajib. But in no way did the prophet guaranteed them that they need not pray salaah, they need not follow other orders of Allah. In fact jannah becomes wajib on the muslim who happens to read his last words laa ilaha illahu muhammadurrasoulullah. The final stage of life is important to be in obedience to Allah. Since we do not know our final hour when to come, we should always be in preparation for that.

Q) I would like a detailed explanation about Qadr which forms part of imaan. I wish to know what things are predestined or preordained by Allah Soubhanahou Wa Ta'aala and what things are left for insaan to choose. I.e What is the extent of free will. Is there anything that can modify al qadr like dua to defeat illness or to prolongue life or type of death and amount of Rizq.
A) Qadr is the knowledge of Allah of the past, the present and the future. Occurrences, facts, accomplishments, failures, etc of the past, present and future are all in the knowledge of Allah as from before our creation. Our yaqeen and conviction in the heart should be that we believe that Allah has the knowledge of everything including destinies of people. This is imaan on Qadr.

Although our qadr is in the hands of Allah, but still we are recommended from the Qur-aan and sunnah to improve ourselves by self effort and duas. Because our belief does not teach us that we are completely abide to our fate. Rather the Qur-aan encourage us to touch the sky in ambitions. The sunnah teaches us to think and choose the best possible way of intellect before any issues. It is reported under the authority of Abu Dawood that once two sahabis came in front of the prophet and asked for a judgement. When the prophet has made the judgement, the one who lost the case, turning his back said: ''Hasbiyallahu wa ni`mal wakeel: Allah is sufficient for me and He is a good Advocate for me.'' The holy prophet peace be upon him corrected him:''Allah Ta`ala dislike the quality of one being incapable. But you should use your intellect and be intelligent. Yes when things are against you, then say 'Hasbiyallahu wa ni`mal wakeel.'

This hadith clearly indicate that a person should do his best, using the brain and also thinking of consequences of his choice before going forward in life. Yes if something still persisted besides your effort against it, then one should believe in Allah that He is the master of Qadr and destiny.

In another hadith, it is mentioned that Sadaqah pushes away difficulties and sickness. Hence we may say that duas, sadaqahs, and good actions can change the some future happenings. But all happenings and their change are in the knowledge of Allah. So one should use the means (wasilah) of good actions to clear unwanted or painful events in life.

Q) Is it true that throwing sea water on house foundation after reading surah Bakarah will bring prosperity to the new built house?
A) No. But do read surah Baqarah on that place aloud and read the process how to start living in a house in masnoon duas on the web.

Q) Ki ete sijjeen?

Q) What happens to the rooh of a person who commited suicide?
A) It goes to sijjeen.

Q) What will happen to kafir children after death?
A) There may be a test for them. If they passed the test, then they will go in jannah. If they failed, then they will go to jahannam. But there may be forgiveness from Allah.

Q) How to show a kafir and his family the beauty of islam and to take him and his family to islam?

Q) Was numerology such as ascribing numerical values like 786 to Bismillah a practice of the prophet (saw) and the sahabas?
A) We don`t find 786 on the `ibadah side of Islam. It is only a numerical value developed by Arabs. Hence not bid`ah when one is using 786 in such places where if writing Bismillah would later be a misrecpect to the letter or note etc.

Q) Can we make du'a by the intermediary of some saint or Nabi (saw)?
A) Qur-aan ordered us to ask Allah directly. There are some hadiths that described that there was tawassul done in some occasions in some specific manner. It was not asking the pious person directly, but asking Allah directly. But since not everyone cannot master these specificities, it is better to stay away from intercessions because a mistake in the wording may lead to kufr. As such it is better that we ask Allah Directly.

Q) Is it bid'ah to consider 786 as bismillah?
A) No.

Q) In cambridge Islamic paper, there is a question concerning pre-arabs beliefs which continued by the muslims. In its mark scheme many examples were given but they also wrote that "angels were the daughters of God.Is it good?
A) It was the pre-islamic belief of Arabs. But Islam proclaim that God has not begotten nor has He had a child (Sourah 112). If so, it is wrongly stated that muslims continued believe such.

Q) I once read in your article an answer that you've given , saying 786 is the numerical value of Bismillah. Can you pls explain this.
A) Arabic language had from long a representative numerical or coded values. For example alif may stand for one, etc. Hence the whole Bismillah when its numbers are added, they come to 786.

Q) Is wishing Jummah Mubarak haraam as there is no specific hadith where the prophet (saw) told us to do so?
A) Not haraam. Some ulamas used the term Jummah Mubarak to promote the importance of Jum`ah and leaning on the hadith that Jum`ah is like Eid day. During our era muslims are not so much concerned on Islamic dates, so in a way to promote Islamic important days, one may say to his friends: Assalamoualaikoum, Jummah Mubaruk.

Q) Is there any Du'a to increase iman?
A) Yes, read a lot of laailaaha illallahou Muhammadurrasouloullah. Then talk a lot on the grestness of Allah and His creation how He perfected them.

Q) Is there a story behind "etoile fillante"?
A) It is part of a star which Allah uses to pelt those jinns and shaitaan who eavesdrop matters pertaining to the future.

Q) Why Allah has created us?
A) To grace us with his bounties and then test us. Are we grateful towards him for his bounties or are we ungrateful. Allah Ta`ala wants to know who excels in good action between us and who may obey Him without seeing Him.

Q) Can someone make his own taweez?
A) Yes. In fact the best ta`weez is to read the ayats of protection in the Qur-aan. Find them in Manzil and in the masnoon dua book.

Q) Is wearing taveez shirk?
A) No, unless it contain shirk words inside or blown on it.

Q) Are we supposed to spend the 15th night of Shaband in ibadat?
A) Yes, as there is mention of forgiveness in this auspicious night in the ahadith. So one may look for forgiveness in salaah, tasbeehs and duas. One may also fast the next day. Mentionned in Tirmizi, Ibn Majah and other books. The hadith is hassan and not weak.

Q) I wanted to know if it is permissible to celebrate mehraj?
A) No.there is no celebration on meraj. Yes 5 times daily salaats are from Mehraj.

Q) Which of the 4 imaams should I follow?
A) Our Mauritian muslim origin is from India and Indians follow mostly imam Abu Hanifah. As such we recommend that you be a hanafi.

Q) Mention is often made about Allah's Arsh and Qursi. Does Allah actually sit on the throne as humans do or were these created for some other purpose?
A) Allah Ta`ala is mustawa on the arsh. We believe that Allah Ta`ala has a arsh, but we don`t know how he is mustawa on that arsh. We the word mustawa means to be on that matter, to take control or to stop at one place. But great mufassireen between sahabas and tabe`i described mustawa as the word we know, but we ignore how Allah Ta`ala is mustawa on arsh and still we should believe in the words that Allah Ta`ala is mustawa on arsh. We should believe in that word without knowing exactly what it means, like Alif Laam Meem. To say that Allah sits on a throne like a human is a blatant mistake because Allah does not ressemble human. He is above our thoughts and imagination. In fact to think about Allah himself physically is reprehensible and we cannot imagine the limitless Supreme Allah with our small and limited brain. In fact once one sahaba was being asked on what he was pondering upon. He said on Allah. The prophet told him: Ponder upon the greatness of Allah that is manifested in his creation and do not ponder upon Allah himself since he is above our comprehension (Jami lisuyuti). In fact the Qur-aan exert us to ponder upon the creation of Allah as inteliigent: Verily there are in the creation of sky and the earth, and the alternance of day and night, clear signs for those who are intelligent. (3:190)

Q) When Qiyaama takes place will all of the universe be destroyed or only part of it (example dunya.) Does the universe as astronomers observe only form part of the first asmaan?
A) According to our understanding the whole universe would come to an end. Scientist believe that the universe is expanding. Allah Ta`ala says that he is expanding the skies. But we cannot deny that there may be other creation out there in the sky. In fact the sky above us is full of farishtas and angels. The holy prophet peace be upon him said that the sky cracks because of the weight that it holds millions of farishtas above us. But all this is abstract definition basing on presently available tools that scientists are using. They may change as their calculation and tools improve. That is why we cannot justify an Islamic ruling basing on changing science. But one may say with reserve that this ayah may be meaning this scientific finding. In fact we are called by the Creator of Skies and Earth to ponder on these to find the greatness of Allah. So are we attaining to aquire the greatness of Allah in our heart or are objectively following blind scientists? In fact one mere sunnah of miswaak is worth much more than those Nobel winners findings.

A) Pou ene missier, li defend garde pantalon enbas cheville.

Q) Ena ban dimoune ki faire li obligatoire pou sorti dan jamat 3 jours chaque semaine, 40 jours e 4 mois.

Q) Is wishing Jummah mubarak bidah?
A) No.

Q) Everyone make mistakes, i know somewhere i made a shirk (small one), will Allah forgive me if i ask forgiveness sincerely?
A) According to ahadiths, you will be forgiven. But the tawbah and repentance should be sincere and include a promise not to repeat the sin. Renew imaan and talk a lot on the glory of Allah

Q) Is there something wrong if one does not follow any of the 4 imams? Instead one follows only the Quran and Sunnah.
A) Wrong, because you need to reach the status of ijtihad to do that. That is you need to recall all text revealed, the principles laid out by sahabas and also ijma` and qiyaas all at one time so as to be followed. I have been personally involving myself in research for more than 15 years now, but still I feel more of following the one who was in the best of eras. The holy prophet (saw) said: the best of era is mine, then the next generation, then the next generation. Then lies would spread. As such follow an imam is more reassuringly safe that we are following the right path.

Q) Should we celebrate yaum un nabi ?
A) Yaum un Nabi(saw) means ‘’the day of the Prophet(saw)’’. According to ahadiths the day of the prophet is not other than Monday. As such the prophet fasted on that day. We may venerate the day of the prophet by fasting on Mondays. See our e-journal for an explicit explanation.

Q) Is it jaa'iz to tie a black thread on the wrist?
A) Nowadays lots of youngsters tie black threads, bangles or chains around their wrist. If they tie it with a wrong belief (i.e those thread will benefit them) then it will be haraam to wear it and if it’s only for the sake of beautifying then it will be makrooh.
Q) Is it jaa'iz to believie in horoscope and visit fortune tellers?
A) Reading horoscope in newspapers and magazines (which describes a person’s personality and future) and going by fortunetellers and believing in what they say, is totally haraam and is a major sin. Nabi (saw) has said: whoever goes by a fortuneteller to ask anything (regarding his future), and he believes in what he says, then he has remained indigent from the deen and Quraan, revealed on Muhammad(saw). And if he asks and does not believe in what he says, then too, due to the evilness of that sin, his salaah will not be accepted for forty days.

Q) Is there any harm in hanging taaweezaat in shops, cars and houses?
A) Taaweezaat, used to be protected from evil eye and jealousy, are of two types:
1-The first type is permissible, with the following three conditions:
a-The taaweez should be made of Qur’aanic verses, names or qualities of Allah.
b- The taaweez should be written in Arabic, and its meaning should be known.
c- One should believe that the taaweez is effective only by Allah’s will.
2-The second type is impermissible. These are taaweezaat, through which, assistance of jinn etc is attained. And they contain words whose meanings are unknown or words leading to shirk.

Q) Is tawweez and amulets authorised in islam?
A) Any ta`weez that do not contain shirk or kufr is authorised. The best ta`weez is to READ the ayats or masnoon du`as. But in case that the person is unable to read or for a child, then the hadith of Abu Dawood indicates clearly that we may WRITE the ayats or du`as and then hang it on the person. But we should not have conviction in the ta`weez itself. But rather it is a means that is made effectual by the power of All Mighty. For instance, although the Razzaq and the Provider is Allah Ta`ala, but He wants us to have recourse to the means of working. As such any ta`weez is only a means and is subject to the power of All Mighty.
