Chapter on Salaah
Q) What is meant by sunnat-e-muakkadah?
A) Sunnah muakkadah is a sunnah that the holy prophet never left. As such it is very close to wajibs (obligatoires). We are obliged to complete the 12 sunnahs muakkadahs daily, to read salaat of eclipse and taraweehs as such. In the contrary we would be responsible. The proof of importance is found in the hadith mentioning the importance of sunnahs before Jum`ah salaah. Please read it in our Jum`ah book on web. If this does not answer your querry, please reformulate your question with other words.

Q) Can one pray esha after midnight and at 3am?
A) It is makrooh to do so in normal circumstances.

Q) Are we allowed to replace namaaz we missed after Asr prayer?
A) Yes. Permissible. But not 15 mins before sunset.

Q) Say for example sunrise is at 5.20 a.m. What's the last time of performing fajr salah? Also, after how many minutes can we perform namaz after sunrise (i.e. replacing fajr if we missed it or reading nawafil like ishraak)?
A) If you completed namaz before 5.20 a.m. then no need to redo namaz. But if you read namaz between 5.20 - 5.23 a.m. then you must redo namaz 15 minutes after sunrise.

Q) Is there qadha for sunnat e muakkadah salah?
A) Yes, if it's on the same day. If the day has passed then make istighfar and tawbah.

Q) Can i swallow my spit during prayer and can someone who have flatulence make one ablution for fard and witri prayer?
A) Yes, can swallow. One wouzu is sufficient for one fard salaah time. But if you slept in between, then should redo wouzu

Q) Previously i was working in government and i could offer all salah including tahajjud. I really appreciated the benefits of tahajjud. I now work in private from 09:00 till 18:00 and miss zuhr and asr. How should i proceed if i want to carry on with tahajjud?
A) Should replace the missed salah first, then may read tahajjud.

Q) Can we replace asr namaz just before maghrib azan?
A) Yes.

Q) Is namaz valid if we cannot concentrate in namaz enough and keep thinking of wordly transaction? What can we do to have concentration?
A) Namaz valid. Do long nafil salah to have concentration.

Q) Can we make dua in sajdah position (outside namaz) in any language?
A) Yes, but with wudhu..

Q) Is there congregational dua after farz namaz or should everyone do their own dua?
A) Better individually and softly, but permissible to teach people with an audible collective dua

Q) When i read namaz i got a habbit of reading Bismillah before tashahhud, durood and dua. Will my namaz be accepted?
A) Must stop this habbit. Namaz is accepted, but it is against the sunnat of Nabi (saw).

Q) Is it permissible to do only 4 rakaat for tahajjud?
A) Yes.

Q) Can a woman read salah with short sleeves. Will her salah be valid?
A) No. The whole body should be covered during salah.

Q) Is it possible to replace the swalaat one has deliberately missed for the past 20 years? How should it be done?
A) We have a chart for replacing salaah on the web
Click to download . It is possible by starting the first missed salaahs and then second etc. One may read these replacing salaahs even at Fajr and after assr times, except sun rise, sun set and zawaal times.

Q) I have got problem with my work recently, they are denying me the permission to go for jumuah . what should i do??
A) Do zohr salaah. Can you get 3 colleagues together in a place at zohr time? If yes, then there may be another option...

Q) The other day, I woke up a little bit earlier to pray tahajjud then Witr...Unfortunately, I finished Witr 1 min after the Sehri end time......Is the Witr salat valid?
A) Valid. But know that the holy prophet SAW appreciated Abu Bakr`s praying witr before sleeping, after Esha. It is better you read witr before sleeping.

Q) Say the start time for Magrib is 18:03 and due to some delay, I only managed to complete Asr salat at 18:03....Is the Asr salat still valid in this case?
A) Valid.

Q) For Jummah, I usually pray 4 rakaats sunnat before jummah, then after the jummah, I pray 2 rakaats sunnat and finally 4 rakaats sunnat. Am I praying the proper number of sunnat salats for jummah? Is the sequence correct?
A) No. Read 4 rakaats after Jum`ah, then 2. Permissible to read as reading though.

Q) When I pray behind the Imam, what should I be reading in each rakaats? Should I be reading only Surah Al-Fatiha and nothing else?
A) Nothing should be read during qiyaam behind the imaam. One should read only thana when joining and the imaam is silent. Else if he is reading, then one should say takbeer and stay silent.

Q) If I forget to say "A'zoubillah Iminasheitan Ir-Rajim, Bismillah Ir-Rahman Ir-Rahim" before starting my salat and I offer the salat, will my salat count?
A) It will count. Because Arouzoubillah and Bismillah are sunnahs and not wajibs.

Q) Is it necessary for an imama to mention in his niyyat that women are also following or will it suffice if he just says muqtadis?
A) The imaam should do niyah of women if ever women are behind. Without his niyah, women`s salaah will not count.

Q) Is there something called 'kaaza oumri"', if yes, what is it?
A) Yes, replace missed salaahs. You may find the schedule on the web..

Q) Is it a bid'ah to lift up the hand and make duah after fard prayer? is there any hadith on that?

A) It is not bid`ah to do so. But one may do so and may not do so. Since the prophet SAW recommended his sahaba Mu`az bin Jabal that he should absolutely not leave to make du`a after salaah:

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Allahoumma a`inni `ala zikrika wa shoukrika wa housni ibadatika. (Abu Dawood)

This is enough to classify to make this du`a mustahab after every salaah. Rasouloullah SAW did not move from his place until he read some duas. He recommended dua after salaah by saying ''Duas that most accepted are Tahajud times and after fard salaah'' (Tirmizi). Furthermore there are four duas that are reported in Sahihs that the prophete never used to leave them after salaahs: Allahoummah antasalaam... Allahoumma a`inni.. La ilaaha illahou.. Allhoumma la mani`a lima a`tayt..
As such if a imaam read these du`as loudly to teach his musallis these duas, then it is permissible and recommended.

Q) If someone is knocking on the door, can we break salah?
A) No.

Q) I want to do my salah with devotion, sincerity and concentration but while performing salah i feel as if salah is a burden for me and i want to perform salaat as quick as possible..please help me to be able to do my salah well.
A) Choose a time when you are free to perform long nafil rakaats. Of course do not perform after sehri until ishraaq time. Nor zawaal or after assr. But anytime besides these, read the longest sourah you know. Or all what you know during the one rakaat. Next rakaat read everything again. Insha Allah you will develop a devotion in salaah. Better be this salaah at tahajud time. Continue doing your salaah, it will improve.

Q) What's the meaning of istikhara?
A) Istikharah means Allah knows and I don`t know. We look for future solutions in there, that may be different with actual ones. It is like an acid test of the future. But it is not wajib to follow a istikharah though.

Q) If one sits to perform namaz, can he/she read namaz with shoes?

A) No. The holy prophet SAW always took out his shoes for salaah. In salaah we need to prostrate the finger toes also. That is we need to push the finger toes down and prostrate ourselves. In shoes, we cannot do that.

Q) Is it allowed to replaced fajr and zohr swalaat after asr? Can we perform nafil after asr?
A) Permissible to replace Fajr and Zohr salaah after assr. But it is not permissible to perform nafil after assr.

Q) What is preferable for a woman, to perform swalaah at the first time or after adhaan itself?
A) At first time.

Q) Is sajda e tilawat allowed between asar & maghrib?
A) Yes. But not at sun set.

Q) After the imam has read surah fatihah, should the muqtadi say ameen loudly or softly?

A) Softly.

Q) Will I see jinn if I pray tahajjud? A person who prayed tahajjud regularly has told me that he sees jinn!! Also, the jinn comes into possession of the person at times...Is it not risky to pray tahajjud? Because I do not want to see jinns!!!
A) Not necessarily. Do read tahajjud to get the proximity and closeness to Allah. In fact dua is mostly accepted that time and Allah Ta`ala ask for what our needs to be fulfilled.

Q) Since I have school and tuition after. I always miss the zohr prayer and sometimes the Asr prayer but I replace them after magrib. Is my salaat still valid ?
A) The salaat is valid. But still try to do it on the way somewhere on time.

Q) Is it allowed to pray only 1 rakat of witr prayer? Are there any evidence for this?
A) Not allowed. In fact the prophet did prevent us from doing only one rakaat.

Q) If someone does not know how to read dua e qunoot, should she do sajdah sahou?
A) No. Rather read soubhanallah soubhanallah.

Q) Should one read the thana when praying with Imam? If yes, I have been praying in congregation without reading the thana at start of the salat for a very long time...Will my congregation salat be accepted by Allah?
A) Recommended to read thana. But your salaah is still valid without it.

Q) If one does not know du'a qunoot, must she perform sajdah sahw at the end?
A) No. Firstly she should make an effort to learn it. If she does not know it, then she should read Subhanallah few times in place of du'a qunoot.

Q) In a 4 rakat namaz, on the 2nd rakat when reading tashhahud, one must read the whole tashhahud till the end or just until "ash hadu al laa ilaaha illallah." If one was supposed to read till the end but didn't know and used to read it till illallah, is the namaz for so many years counted or not (because it is something wajib in namaz).?
A) Whole tashahud is wajib to be read. Insha Allah it will count. Make tawbah and istighfaar on this ignorance.

Q) In first rakat i read sura 'falaq' in second rakat i read sura 'ikhlass' by mistake. Do i need to make sajda sahu?
A) No. but it is makrooh to do such.

Q) If you missed salah with jamaat, then is it better to do the missed salah at home or in the mosque?
A) It is better to do it in the masjid. It is also sunnah to assemble the family and do it at home.

Q) Is salah accepted in tight clothes like churidar and short Kurta but body remain fully covered?
A) Accepted, but makrooh.

Q) How many rakat are there in tahajjud namaz? I do it in 12 rakaats with surah ikhlaas 12 times in the first rakat and reduce it by one. Hence having to read it once in the last rakat. Is it the proper way?
A) 8 rakats better. Minimum two. It is makrooh to fix surahs for salahs. Tahajjud should be lengthy and no fix surahs.

Q) If a muswalli arrived late such that the imam is about to start the khutbah, is it permissible for him to start the 4 rakat sunnah knowing that he won't be able to finish before the khutbah. Must he read the sunnah even if the khutbah has started or must he read it after jum'ah salah?
A) No, don't read. Replace the sunnah after jum'ah. Because Nabi (saw) prohibited from performing salah during khutbah.

Q) If i can't pay atttention at all in salaah...as soon as i start salaah i don't know how i finished it already...what can be done...am really worried about it.
A) This concern is worth praising. To have concentration, read long nafil salaah and when realised in salaah, then straight away come to the salah concentration. Ponder upon the meanings of the Qur-aan and duas in the salaah. You may find them in Masnoon duas on web.

Q) What is swalat ul ishraq ? And how to perform it?
A) Two rakaats of Salaat-ul- ishraaq may be performed approximately 15 minutes after sunrise. If one remained seated in zikr since fajr until ishraaq, inshallah one will receive the reward of performing one hajj and umrah.

Q) I found this on your site 'Q) In first rakat i read sura 'falaq' in second rakat i read sura 'ikhlass' by mistake. Do i need to make sajda sahu? ' Can you please explain Where's the mistake?
A) The mistake is that the reader read first the sourah 113 and then sourah 112. It should be that the sourah 112 be first and then 113. The holy prophet read always in this sequence and hence is established the rule of salaah: tarteeb or sequence of reading. No sajdah sahu required. But need to make istighfaar.

Q) Is it true that one should fold the prayer mat after reading namaz, that is it should not be left open?
A) Permissible to leave open.

Q) Should women cover their feet in salaat and everywhere they go? Is the feet part of awrah.?
A) Because of necessity, feet is not awrah. But when possible, one should hide feet also from strangers.

Q) How can I advise a close relative who is not regular with the Swalat and also with whom religious discussion is not easy?
A) Do the Ta`leem of Fazail Salaah in Fazail Amaal of Hazrat Mowlana Zakarya r.a.

A) 3 rakaats.

Q) Can i read two rakat nafil namaz and send isaale sawab to a marhoom?
A) Yes.

Q) If a sunnah is missing in your namaz, sajdah sahwa is necessary or not?
A) No, sajdah should not be performed.

Q) 1. Is it compulsory to read namaz in sequence?
A) Yes, it is compulsory and wajib.

Q) 2. If we do not read namaaz in sequence, then is our namaaz is not accepted by Allah?
A) If purposely done, then even 2 sajdahs will not be sufficient for correction. Then the namaz should be redone.

Q) 3. If it is not accepted by Allah, then where is it mention in Quran?
A) We cannot definitely say so that it is not accepted by Allah Ta`ala. But acceptation is at His discretion. But we may find from the most famous sunnah of Rasouloullah SAW that he did his last salaahs in the prescribed sequence. And he ordered us: Read salaah as you have seen me reading salaah (Bukhari) Allah Ta`ala said: ''Prenez ce que le Messager vous donne; et ce qu’il vous interdit, abstenez-vous en; et craignez Allah car Allah est dur en punition.''(59:7) Here Allah Ta`ala said that we have to obey and follow the prophet SAW. Furthermore the following ayah attached the divine guidance only in the sunnah of the holy prophet SAW: ''Dis: «Obéissez à Allah et obéissez au messager. ... Since it is the divine order for us to follow and obey the prophet, then we can conclude that any salaah done away from the sunnah can be rejected by Allah Ta`ala. Kindly ans my question..

Q) In namaaz when reading tasbih in roukou and sijda, should we read the same quantity in all roukou and sijda for a particular namaaz.
A) No. But better read 5 or 7 times.

Q) Heard that our prophet s.a.w used to do Raf'e Yadain. Must we do it?
A) Raf'e yadain was done by the prophet but then later on left. Hence Abu Bakr, umar and Uthman did not do rafe yadain. The salaah of Abu Bakr is the salaah that is closest to the prophet peace be upon him. Hence if one is from a hanafi background, then one should not do rafe yadain.

Q) What is the best time to perform namaaz istikharaa?
A) Anytime, except makrooh times. One may read before sleep also.

Q) What is hajaah salaat? plz explain how to perform it.

A) The holy prophet SAW did replace the Fajr and Assr he missed and collectively conducted the Qada salaah with the sahabas. As such it is obligatory to replace missed salaahs. We have a Qada salaah grid whereby one may fill the Qadas salaahs he performed so that one may know which salaah he is replacing. Intention of 1st Fajr, 2nd Zohr etc is important. One should replace all those salaahs to such an extent that one feels that he has replaced all of them.

A) Not ok at all. Late comers should do their own salaah individually.

Q) In salah is it required to say 'bismillahir rahmanir rahim' before reciting a surah after reciting surah fatiha? And before starting the 2nd rakat should i recite aouzu billah and bismillah?
A) It is recommended and mustahab to read Bismillahirah maniraheem before a surah. Read only Arouzoubillahimishaitaanir rajeem in the beginning of the salaah. Then on 2nd rakaats read only bismillah before surah fatiha.
Note: this rule apply to a munfarid (someone reading salaah alone). As for the one reading behind an imaam, then he should read only thana in qiyaam.

A) 2 before Fajr. 4 before Zohr. 2 after Zohr. 2 after Maghrib 2 after Esha. It is a sin to read the 2 sunnats of maghrib after maghrib time have elapsed. Maghrib should be read right after sunset. One should not read maghrib late or after 25 mins. It is makrooh tahrimi and prohibited to read maghrib later than 25 mins. The holy prophet SAW said: ‘’My ummat would always be in well being or on the straight path until they will not postpone to read maghrib salaah at such time that stars have already become clear and apparent.’’(Abu Dawood)
The time that stars become clear and apparent is about 25 mins after sunset. As such it is makrooh tahrimi to postpone maghrib without reason at such time.
Furthermore, please note that there is another hadith in Ibn Majah that says that we should read the 2 sunnats of maghrib right after the farz. And that we should not postpone it for later on.
Esha time starts when it is completely dark. Send QNA NAMAZ to 8386 to get the salaah times.
Or you may get a salaah time calendar by Falahi shop or phone us on 57921333.
You may not wait for azaan to perform your salaah.
In fact, salaah is recommended for you in the first time. But be sure that the salaah time started.
You may find a salaah time on the web.

Q) If i could not perform the 4 rakaats sunah before zohar salat due to lack of time, should i do it after faraz?
A) Yes. Read the 2 first, then replace the 4.

Q) When making qaza of missed salah, must we replace the sunnats also?
A) Sunnat need not be replaced except for the sunnat of fajr of the same day.

Q) In the third rakat of witr salah, after dua qunoot, can other duas such as rabbanna aatinaa fid dunya etc be recited before proceeding to roukou?
A) No other duas should be read.

Q) Is it permissable to recite by reading (not from memory) a surah from the Quran Karim after reciting Al Fatiha, in salah?
A) No.

Q) Can we replace Zuhr namaz after Assr salaat?
A) Yes, if you have more than 6 namazs qaza on your qaza account.

Q) Why don't we pray salah at the calendar time? Instead all daily salah are performed at a time specified.
A) Because we have recommended times also prescribed by the holy prophet SAW. Permissible for a lady to follow calendar time.

Q) When it says in hadith to make dua after faraz salah, is it straight after the faraz or after the whole namaz is done?
A) Briefly after faraz and lengthly after sunnah and nafil.

Q) Must we read behind the imam in a Fardh namaz?
A) No. You may only read thana in qiyaam and tasbeeh and duas in other postures

Q) Do I need to replace all the prayers that was missed deliberately in the past ?
A) Yes.

Q) What is the maximum and the minimum raka'ats to be performed for Tahajud?
A) Minimum of 2 and maximum of 12. Most of the time the holy prophet SAW read 8 rakats.

Q) How should the saf of salaah be?
A) Hazrat Abu Malik Ashrari said: Should n`t I tell you of the salaah of the prophet? There used to be iqamah, then the men used to stand in front and then at the back were the children. The prophet used to lead them. Abu Dawood

Q) I missed 1 rakat in Assr salat. During 2nd attahiyat sitting i must read only attahiyat and no durud and dua. But by mistake i read durud after attahiyat. When i remember, should i stop reading the durud or complete it? and should i make sajda sahu?
A) No sajdah sahu needed. Stop when remembered.

Q) When do you get more rewards: When praying in masjid with jammat, then asking dua quickly without crying or praying alone, then asking dua and crying
A) For a man it is more rewarded and wajib for him to pray in the masjid. As such masjid is more rewarded for men. But for women they should pray at home. Then you may cry alone in tahajjud salaah before you sleep or before sehri time.

Q) What should i do if i want my wish to be accomplished ?
A) Perform two rakat salat-ul-hajah. Then read the du’a for hajah, found in Masnoon du’a on our web.

Q) How to persuade a Muslim brother to perform his salah while he is completely on the wrong path?
A) Take some friends and come out from the masjid to go meet him. Once there, tell him about the virtues and rewards of salah. You can learn those virtues from the Book Muntakhab Ahadith.

Q) What happens if within the time during which I am eligible to pray maghrib salat, I manage to pray only fard maghrib salat? When can I do the sunnah and nafl maghrib salat?
A) Replace the sunnah before sleeping at night.

Q) My husband does not do namaz in masjid. He prefers to do at home. Is this right?
A) No. This practice is against sunnah. It is wajib on men to do their salaahs in the masjid.

Q) If you pee in your pants while praying and you still carry on praying, you are committing a sin. However, what happens if you peed in your pants (a small drop) but you are not aware? Is it still a sin?
A) A sin and a danger of kufr to continue salaah while your wudhu broke. One should stop salaah and go perform wudhu. But if one is unaware of pee and find later trace of it, then it is not obligatory to repeat salaah unless there are indication that it was before or during salaah. But once discovered, then one should wash at least 3 times before praying in there. The holy prophet said the Key to Paradise is salaah and the key of salaah is wudhu.

Q) Can we do sajda sahoo if we make mistake in farz namaz? Example if we forget to do tashahhud in 2nd rakaat?
A) In fact it is obligatory to make sajdah sahu on such occasion where a wajib is missed. Forgetting tashahud in 2nd rakaat makes obligatory two sajdahs sahu.

Q) During the 3rd and 4th rakaat of a farz prayer in jamaat, is it allowed for the mussali to read the surah Fatiha?
A) No. In fact behind the imaam, it is not allowed to read any sourahs. You may read in your heart.

Q) In some Islamic calendar there is premier l'heure and dernier l'heure for asr prayer? can we pray asr prayer at premier 'heure asr?
A) No. Please send ''Qna namaz'' to 8386 to have the exact time for your area.

Q) How to concentrate fully in salah?
A) Read long nafil salah, specially tahajjud salah. Try to concentrate on the meaning of what you are reading.

Q) I've heard that there is three diferents ways to perform the Witr prayers and also it need not be just after the 2 nafiils of Esha prayers as we usually do here in mauritius. I've also heard that the Holy Prophete PBUH even used to perform more than 3 Rakaats of Witr even go to 11. If what i've heard is true can you please clearly explain to me all the 3 ways of performing all three ways with details and complete duas and surahs to be read during in each rakaats. Also during special nights like Shabbe Baraat must we offer the witr prayer at the end of all nafiils we might do or is it alright if we perform it along with our Esha prayers.
A) Although there has been different ways that the holy prophet has been reported to read witr, but we need to account and look for the last way that the holy prophet performed that particular salaah. We follow the abrogating sunnah that is found in the last days of the holy prophet peace be upon him. During the beginning era, it was permissible to talk in salaah. But in later years, this was abrogated and we could not talk during Salaah. As we look between the ahadiths, we find that there is unanimity between the closest companion of the prophet as Ali(r.a.), Aisha(r.a.), Ibn Abbas(r.a.) and Ubay ibn Ka`b(r.a.) that the holy prophet peace be upon him was performing three rakaats of witr(Abu Dawood and Tirmizi). We read the two rakaats normal and stand up on the second to complete the 3rd with Alhamd and surah and read takbeer to read Qunoot. You may find the dua Qunoot on the web in masnoon dua as Dua Qunoot.

Q) I'm a girl. I work in an office, i've tried to find myself a little area to pray, the problem is that there are non muslim men who walk in the area while i'm praying. Is it okay ?
A) Your salaah is ok no problem.

Q) If someone sits due to health problems in qiyaam position (in some rakaats when one cannot stand),will the salaat be valid?
A) Yes.

Q) Should one read istikhara at night only or can he read it during the day also? During this time, should he not have contact with that person?
A) No, it is not necessary to read at night. One may read istikharah at any time and take a decision. Oulamas have mentioned to read it for 3 days or, seven days if one didn't get an indication about what decision to take.
Q) The direction for salaat is in front of my bed. can i do salaat while my husband is sleeping on the bed and i just put a bag in front of me?
A) Yes, permissible.

Q) What does Qiyaam-ul-Lail means?
A) It means standing in salah during the night.

A) Insha Allah tous.
Q) Is it a sin if we do not pray the sunnat mouakidda in salaat?
A) Yes, it is a sin. In fact sunnah muakkadah is mentioned in muslim shareef as ''kutiba'' which means made incumbent upon.

Q) What is the dua of takbeer-e-tashreek?
A) Allahou Akbar Allahou Akbar Laa ilaaha illallahou Allahou Akbar Allahou Akbar wa lillahil Hamd.

Q) Can i read namaz while sitting if i am feeling tired? E.g. reading two rakats while standing and 2 rakaat while sitting on the musallah.
A) Not permissible to sit for farz and sunnat muakkadah. But you may sit for nafil salah.

Q) In my area there are three masjids. When the first azan goes, i read my namaz. After few minutes, the second masjid's azan goes and then the third. Must i wait for all three azan to finish and then read namaz?
A) Better will be to wait for all three azans to finish. Because some masjids give azan before the salah time has entered.

Q) How should a woman perform jum'ah salah at home?
A) There is no jum'ah salah for a woman. This is mentionned clearly in Bukharin Shareef. Woman should read zuhr salah at home.

Q) My wife wants to go to masjid to do salah. She says i cant prevent her as it is in sahih hadeeth. How to convince her its better at home? What about eid salah? What are the rulings? And ahadeeth about it?
A) Tell her that sahih hadith in Abu Dawood, the holy prophet SAW said:''The salaah of women is better in their houses.'' Also Hazrat Umar r.a., hazrat Aisha, Ibn Mas`ood and Ibn Umar r.a. prevented ladies from going masjid. These personalities are much of greater calibre to understand shariat better than us.

Q) If I have very limited time to pray Zohr while I'm at work, is it a sin if I only pray the 4 farz and raplace the sunnah afterwards?
A) Sin, but do istighfaar. No problem if difficult when working.

A) No. You can't perform namaz before its time.

Q) Allah accepts du'as made in sajdah. Is it sajdah of namaz farz, nafil or simply a du'a made after namaz in the position of sajdah?
A) It means du'a in nafil namaz like tahajjud and the du'a should be made in arabic.

Q) Can we replace namaz Fajr or Zohr just after performing Assr salat?
A) Yes, if you have more than 6 salaahs qazas on your account. That is if from whence puberty until now, you have qazas salaahs that you did not replace and their numbers exceed 6 salaahs, then there is no condition for you to replace first zohr, then assr. Had you 6 or less than 6 salaahs qazas on your account from puberty, then you should absolutely replace first Zohr and then assr

Q) I have seen the schedule regarding replacing rozas. Can I replace 5 Fajr after Fajr, 5 Zohr after Zohr etc.. each day, meaning replacing one week namaz per day?
A) Please clarify. Yes. Can.

Q) Is there jum'ah salah if eid is on jum'ah?
A) It is compulsory on the one who reside in a city or town conducting Jum`ah salaahs to continuously read Jum`ah even if Eid day is on Jum`ah. This is because the beloved prophet SAW said that he would read Jum`ah with his madinah Sahabas. (Abu Dawood).
The beloved prophet SAW announced to those who resided in villages where there are no Jum`ahs and that they came for Eid salaah in Madinah on a Friday that after Eid Salaah-Khutbah, they may go back to their villages and not compulsory for them to wait for Jum`ah salaah. The proof of this that it was addressed to only villagers not to read Jum`ah is found in Bukhari. Hazrat Usman r.a., the third caliphate clearly announced that ‘’I have given permission to the villagers to go back to their villages and they may not wait for Jum`ah salaah.’’(Bukhari)

Q) Does my swalaah count if I started it at a time still authorised but it coincided with either the forbidden times at sunrise, zawaal or sunset before I could complete it. My delay in offering swalaah being occasioned by call of nature or having to make wudhu due to bloating etc. Please advise me.
A) Salaah counts. But only for sunrise, you will need to redo it -15 minutes after sunrise.

Q) During Isha in jamaat, when imam starts & says Allahu Ackbar & put his 2 hands close to his ears, I did that too, but in a moment of distraction, I forgot to say Allahu Ackbar! I replaced the Isha fard salat after tarawee at home. Which one will count?
A) If you did not read Allahou Akbar during the whole salaah, then the replaced one only will count. Should reread witr also.

Q) Do we have to pray Witr after Tahajjud?
A) If not read, yes should read.

Q) For Isha, when praying 4 sunnah, on 4th rakaat, my wudu broke. When I made wudu again, it was already time for Isha jamaat. I prayed Isha jamaat + taraweeh. On returning home, I replaced the 4 sunnah in the beginning...Will the salaat be accepted?
A) Yes, you have done right. In fact any salaah broken, should be replaced.

Q) I am in my forty's and I want to replace all namaz which I have missed since my adolesence. How to proceed - when to replace these salaat and how many rakaats should I perform per day?

Click to download

Q) When you say that in Tahajjud, after salaah make du`a crying or else make as if you are crying, why should we make as if crying? If someone does not cry but is sincerely asking dua, will not his dua be acceptable?
A) Because the beloved prophet SAW ordered us to do so.

Rasoullah SAW said: Cry! If you can`t cry, then make as if you are crying.''(Ibn MAJAH)

Q) I cannot read the swalaat because I am quite sick. Will my duas be rejected till I can start to do the swalaat again?
A) Read in whatever sickness you are. Do tayammum if cannot hold wouzou. Do on bed with nappy and do tayammum, but do not leave salaahs. Insha Allah the duas will not be rejected: O Allah give the will and tawfeeq to perform the farzs salaahs. Ameen.

Q) Is it allowed for woman to follow the imam and jamaat of man in masjid or in a house?
A) No.

Q) Yesterday, during Fajr in jamaat, when saying salaam to right shoulder, I said 'salaam wa rahmatullah' instead of 'salaam waleikum wa rahmatullah'.I then replaced Fajr salaat at home. Which one will count? The jamaat one or the one done at home?
A) The jamaat one was ok. The imaam`s salaam was sufficient to break your salaah.

Q) What is sajda sahu?

A) Counted and finish your salaah normally.

Q) According to a Hadith, it is advisable to make dua right after wudu. According to another, it is advisable to pray nafl salat right after wudu. If one does wudu and wants to make both, Which one should come first after making wudu, dua or nafl salat?
A) After Nafil salaah. Because the action of salaah is objectively to please Allah, but wouzu is a means only to please Allah.

Q) What will happen if when it is time to pray maghrib, I have in mind 3 rakaats maghrib fard before starting the prayer but I say 3 rakaats fajar fard instead? Will Allah accept the salat or will the salat be invalid?

A) The sunnahs muakkadah should be prayed. Leaving them is a sin. Tahajjud is nafil and leaving it is not a sin. But if one did not pray sunnahs, still he can pray tahajjud.

Q) After jammat salah, the imam does a dua. I do not do this dua but I ask personal dua for myself. Will my dua be accepted?

Q) Can we read two surahs in one rakat in tahajjud salah? Must we read Bismillah before reading the second surah?

Q) The other day, I missed Asr sunnah, Magrib nafil & Isha nafil salat but I still offered Tahajjud salat before sehri time. Will the Tahajjud salat be accepted even though I missed these 3 salaats?

A) It is recommended and mustahab to read Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem before a surah. Read only A'ouzoubillahimishaitaanir rajeem in the beginning of the salaah. Then on 2nd rakaats read only bismillah before surah fatiha.
Note: this rule apply to a munfarid (someone reading salaah alone). As for the one reading behind an imaam, then he should read only thana in qiyaam.

Q) I work at a place where there are no masjid in the vicinity. we got a place to do salah. many people come there to do salah. we do salah in jamaat. the problem is everyday anyone of us stand as imaam. we dont know each other and which aqeeda everyone follow. A) It is a sin to pray esha prayer after midnight. It is a grave sin to pray esha after sehri. This would be qadhaa and a very grave sin. The holy prophet SAW said: ''the one who miss to read one salaah is as if he lost all his family and all his wealth.''(Sahih Ibn Hibbaan)

Q) I am a boy. Is it necessary for me to go to the masjid to perform salah? Or can i perform it at home? At home i feel more at ease and i read Qur'an, do Fateha and recite naat.

A) It is necessary for a boy to perform his faraz salah in the masjid. You may perform sunnats and nafils at home.

Q) A group of women do nafil namaz in congregation. One woman leads the prayer others follow. is it permissible?

A) Not allowed.

Q) Is it permitted to read quran in namaz in another arabic dialect. because i heard in the mosque the imaam read the surah in another dialect.
A) Normally one should read the Qur-aan in the dialect of Hafs as it is usual in our Country. One should not confuse the musalli of hearing another dialect. Because many learn the surahs from listening to them in salaah. And one may well understand the meanings of the reading when reading in the main dialect in that country. Reading in other dialects would cause digestion difficulty due to lack of knowledge and faith in the present era.
This fatwa in no means negate the existence and our belief on these dialects/Qiraats. We do admit and believe that Qur-aan was revealed in 7 dialects. The one who master these 7 dialects may explain to his musalli before reading them and then proceed. Because we witnessed that musalli react negatively on hearing a new dialect and then negate them with ignorance. But still, we realise that many musallis do not know how to read the main current dialect properly. As such a humble opinion is that more effort be done towards teaching people the main Hafs dialect. Wallahu Alam bisawaab.

Q) Is it permissible to perform taraweeh and esha in the third portion of the night, in case there is a lot of work and it is not possible to fulfill them in the first or second portion of the night?

Q) I have already performed hajj in 2012, i know that once hajj is performed we return to a new born baby, that is all sins are forgiven. what about all the salaat i missed before performing hajj, do i need to replace them?
A) You will need to replace them still

Q) Should I offer Hajja salat if I want to get whatever I want from Allah...I did it once but I did not get anything...
A) Duas should be repetitively done after accomplishing good actions for some time. Only Allah Ta`ala decide when to give. But you should know that Allah knows better and He may be avoiding an unknown difficulty that you are not aware of. Or finally and definitely, you would obtain sawaab on the day of qiyamah.

Q) I missed Asr faraz salaat the other day but I replaced it after Isha...I then prayed Tahajjud..will my tahajjud salat be accepted even though I offered qadaa for Asr salat?
A) Make tawbah. It is a major sin to make salaah qazah.

Q) I usually miss Zohr & Assr prayers during weekdays. How many rakaats should I replace after the Maghrib salaat?
A) Read the sunnahs and farzs also. 4 sunnah before Zohr, 4 farzs and 2 sunnahs. Then 4 farzs assr. It is a major sin to read salaah after its prescribed times, make tawbah.

Q) If women should do salaat in their hotel and not in haram, then why there is separate place for women to perform namaz in haram in Mecca & Medina? Why are they allowed to do their salalat in the Masjid e Nabawi and Haraam Shareef?
A) Because of circumstances of Tawaaf, ZamZam, looking at the Ka`bah and making Salaam to the prophet SAW. Because they may be trapped inside the haram because of the crowd, so there should be facility for them. Else, sitting in Madinah, the prophet SAW said that the salaah in the house is better for women. (Abu Dawood)

(Anwar Shah Kashmiri)

Q) When a muswalli standing in swalaat Zohr and Assr( Jamaat) behind Imaam, does he read surat Faatiha & Ayaat or he must stay quiet, do not read anything in all the four rakaat. Kindly please advise me the correct principles as per Hadith.
Secondly, which is better or is recommended, in Makkah and Madinah, a woman perform swalaat in Haraam (Masjid) or she does it in the hotel room.
A) He should stay quiet. According to sahabas, one should read sourah Fatiha in the heart and not on the tongue. A sahih hadith of Muslim shareef whereby Abu Hureirah r.a. was mentioning the importance of reading sourah Fatihah in every salaah, he mentioned that one should read it in the heart behind the imaam and he should not utter anything from the tongue. This is the collective view of the sahabas:

In her room is better. The holy prophet SAW said so in Madinah:’’the salaah in their homes are better’’(Abu Dawood)

Q) Is it permissible to join 2 namaz while we are travelling to other countries ?? As there is one hadith that we can do it.
A) According to Hazrat Anwar Shah Kashmiri r.a., basing on numerous ahadiths, one may perform travelling salaahs as such: During the time between Shafi`ee Assr-i.e. after one shade-and before Assr hanafi, one may perform Zohr and Assr together. One may opt for this during travelling more than 77 kms.
After Maghrib shafi`ee or after about 30 mins after sunset, and before hanafi Esha, one may perform both Maghrib and Esha together. This is applicable only in shar`ee travelling.

Q) Should we replace only the farz namaz or sunnat. if we are doing kaaza namaz for esha, should one replace the witr also.....

A) No. Sunnah Muakkadah is important and should be performed. But there are no conditions attached to that for tahajuud.

Q) Can u please give me the daleel of massah on neck while making wudhu.
A) First of all, we should know that there are two views on this issue. On one hand we have those scholars who testify that making massah on the neck is sunnah and on the other hand, we have those who claim that it is bid`ah(invention and not sunnah). In fact those who testify that it is sunnah found the proof and hence stated their declaration. And those who say it is bid`ah did not find the proof and hence stated their stand. Now by looking at ahadiths, we find that the holy prophet (saw) did make massah on the neck. Different narration are found in several books mainly Abu Dawood shareef, Tabrani, Tahawi and Musnad Ahmad. Basing on these ahadiths we conclude that it is mustahab and recommended to make massah on the neck and it is not bid`ah. In fact Sheikh Albani did testify the hadith of Abu Dawood as sahih and strong. As a matter of principle, we should take consideration of the ones who have proofs over the ones whom proofs never reached them. Allah Ta`ala says:''Say O prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.p.) : Are the ones who knows equal to the ones who do not know?'' (39:9) As a matter ofprinciple, we should take consideration of the ones who have proof that massah on the neck is an established sunnah as found in ahadiths. But still we should not make this an issue of discussion, since the ones who do not make the massah, their wudhu is still valid. But rather we should ponder upon how many people are not performing salaah and wudhu at all. The percentage of non mussalis are indeed over 90% worldwide. As such let`s make an effort to improve the salaah performance percentage instead. Let`s start in our midst, our family and our working places.

A) First of all, it is haraam what you both are doing. It is haraam to talk to a girl until you make nikah with her. One should stop doing that and especially during sacred month of Ramadhaan. Know that gunah or sins during this month is very severely punished.
Coming to your question, if no touching involved by hand, etc and there is ejaculation or spurting (that is it comes out with pressure), then there is only ghusl on him or her. Fast is still valid. But if hands involved, then there is ghusl and should replace one fast after Ramadhaan. Still, do continue your fast anyhow and do not eat or drink anything.
But if there is secretion(not coming out with pressure), then there is wouzu for you only and not her. You should wash your private part and cloth mixed up with the fluid.

Q) If a person needs to do ghusal in plane, what must he do?

As such one may clean oneself with water and tissues on this principle to get rid of impurities on your body. Yet you may try to wet your body member by member in this manner and hence you would have perform ghusl without wetting the toilet. Remember the three farzs of ghusl: wet whole body, wet the nostrils, wet the mouth and gargle. But else, since you are not allowed by plane staff to have a shower in the plane toilet, you should therefore clean the impurities as indicated above and then perform tayammum. We recommend that you redo your salaah when you reach your destination. Wallahu a`lam bisawab.

A) You may wet only those areas that are not affected and then make massah on those places that you cannot wash. Else if unable to bath, then tayammum is enough for ghusl and wuzu: one stroke on rock to pass on face and another stroke on rock to pass on both hands including elbows.

A) The bleeding from the 29th of May is called istihaaza; thus you should make wudhu before every salaah and perform salaah. But if the bleeding continues, then after 15 days since the 20th of May your haiz starts again. And will continue until 10 days maximum.

Q) Can i read any part of the quran that i know by heart even in the state of haiz?
A) No. Only those ayats that are for protection and read as a du`a.

Q) I had my haiz at 15:00 yesterday. But I did not read Zuhr. Do I have to replace the Zuhr Salaah after my haiz?
A) No, the Zuhr salaah need not to be replaced.

Q) I got my haiz during salaah, should the salaah be replaced once haiz over?
A) No. Unless it was nafil salaah, then you will need to replace.

Q) I want to know if I can fast and pray namaz when I am going through bleeding after post menopause. My haiz has stopped since more than a year now and it seems to be an illness. I am 52 yrs old and as per my doctor I was not supposed to have haiz now. I will have to go through a curetage tomorrow and will continue to bleed for at least a week. It is considered as an illness as per her and I need more clarification in this regard as I intend to continue fasting. My haiz stopped since April last year. I consulted a doctor in April this year and she confirmed that I will no longer have haiz now as I am in Menopause and any bleeding after is a sign of illness.
A) Depending on the age, colour of blood and circumstances, we may judge whether it is haiz or not. Normally any bleeding after 54 years is istihaadha. If someone went through operation of uterus, then no haiz also. But in your case, if it is bleeding after it stopped one year, if your age is in the fourtees, then it is still counted as haiz..
Since you are under 55 years, and your haiz only stopped last year, then this is considered to be haiz.
Haiz has a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 10 days. Doctors cannot advise on haiz maslas since it is an Islamic jurisprudence issue, not a medical issue.

Q) I've heard that during menstruation if females remove pubic hair, they will be cursed by angels n other creatures. Is it true?

A) 10 days.

Q) Should a woman perform ghussul after having an orgasm in her sleep?
A) Yes, if water or sperm came out.

Q) My haiz comes in an irregular basis. Sometimes it comes on the first month, sometimes it stops and come on 45 days. Sometimes I bleed contimuously for 15 days, but other times for only 2 days. Please help me to determine my haiz.
A) Since your case is that your haiz does not come on habitual days, then the massail pertaining your bleeding would be counted as haiz when there is possibility that it is haiz. Know that there is should be a minimum of 15 days that you would be reading salaah between two haizs. So if after one bleeding of 3 days minimum, in less than 15 days you encounter another bleeding, then the 2nd bleeding does not count as haiz until you fulfil the 15 days course. Then if you continue to bleed, then stop salaah. If it bleeds continuously for 3 days or more(after 15 days), then this is another haiz. But if after the 15 days course, it bled on 2 days, then replace your salaahs for these two days since it was istihadhah. The principle is that if you are sure that your bleeding is haiz, then stops your salaahs. But if you are sure that that type of bleeding would last only one day, then continue your salaah unless it bleeds for 3 days continuously.

Q) My haiz are normally 4 days on the 22nd day cycle. This month I bled for 1 day only on the 22nd day and the rest days I stayed without bleeding. What should I do?
A) Since haiz has a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of ten days, then your one day bleeding is not haiz, but istihadhah. You should replace the missed salaahs during that day.

Q) I normally have my haiz on the 20th day cycle for 6 days. This month I had only one drop of blood in the beginning and I did not bleed at all until the last day when I had another drop of blood. Is that haiz? Should I read salaah?
A) Since haiz is counted as the beginning blood and the ending blood, then your two drops are counted as if you were bleeding continuously. Then this was your haiz and you should not read salaah.

Q) If I find in my normal habitual days of haiz a drop of blood or a trace of another colour, would that be counted as haiz?
A) When you know that your haiz is coming, then when you see a drop of blood or any clot besides white, then it is haiz. On the condition that this blood does not stop before 3 days and that the minimum number of days from the last haiz (ghusal) are 15 days. Else before 15 days it is istihadah and if the drop stops before 3 days, then it is istihadah.

Q) Can a haiza write ayaat of the Quraan without touching the page, eg while putting another page in between? I would be grateful to get the reference please.
A) First of all it is unanimously bound that a woman in haiz should not read the Qur-aan nor should she touch the Qur-aan without anything in between. But she may look in the Qur-aan without reading or read duas ayahs.
In view of the tafseer of the second ayah of sourah Qalam, we find in major tafseer books that the pen that wrote Wahi is also sacred and also the ink that is imprinted is also sacred. That is why the first appeal is that no ayahs of the Qur-aan should be written in the state of haiz. Imam Muhammad hold the view that it is makrooh to write since writing is in the same meaning as touching(Shami).
But according to imam Abu Yusuf(r.a.) it is permissible to write ayahs of the Qur-aan during haiz with something in between the page and the writer(Shami).
Best is to abstain unless it is necessary to and difficult to postpone the writing. Then the haiza should put something in between the page and the ayah that she is writing.

Q) I am 45yrs old and have always had my menses every 3 to 4 months. To be noted that i have a rare disease, which cause vasculitis and often have abnormal bleeding. Lately about a year ago i have notice that when i am having my menses i got very little bleeding , not more than a lentils seed, which will go on for 4 to 6 days then i will have normal menses for 7 to 9 days and again for 3-4 more days i got little bleeding. So on the whole i got more than 10 days bleeding and as i don't have regular menses can skip namaaz for only the heavy bleeding days and for the light bleeding days can i do my namaaz and read my Quraan. Please give a quick answer as i may be losing the chance to perform my swalaat as it is. I must tell you that my illness is a rare one and no medication is available for it save massive doses of cortisones and that's why i may have those problems together with many other health problems. My faith is in Allah swt only and He knows best what is best for me.

Q) My uncle came and asked me to teach him how to use the Quran pen, and on that day i was menstruating. I initialy showed him how to use the books, and he later asked me to show about the Quraan as well. I had no other option than to open the Quran and to show him. I was trying for an exucse, but coudnt think of anything. If i had a piece of cloth i would have used it but alas. Is it a major sin? How can i repent? Am feeling terrible after this act.
A) It is a major sin to touch the Qur-aan without ghusl. One should repent: regret, promise not to do again and give some sadaqahs. Next time take an excuse and go to the toilet and come back. Then say you need to use the cloth since you went toilet.

Q) Can a haiza recite surah Mulk?
A) No. But she may read other duas for protection etc.

Q) I got my haiz last wednesday at 6:30 a.m, my haiz sometimes last for a week or maximum 9 days..in this case should i start fasting on wednesday or wait?

Q) In between one monthly cycle of 7 days and other monthly cycle there's spotting or sometime little bit of blood stains. is it haiz. as told before it's due to hormonal imbalance. can I offer salat? or I have to take ghusl each time I notice it?

But after that few black stains were found for 2 days. Now again it is absent. What should i do now to become pure. ( i had performed haiz ghusl 3 times whenever i found the ceassation of blood)
A) First of all, know that you had 10 days of haiz after your miscariiage. Then the rest 15 days you should have prayed. Then you should stay 10 days haiz. Please adjust 10 days - 15 days to find out the replacement of salaah or whenever to pray.

Q) Is it compulsory to take gusl after periods after 5th or 7th day only. Is it allowed to take it on 4th or 6th day (i.e. if the bleeding stops?)

Q) What should be read for protection during menstruation?

Q) During my haiz can I listen to Qur-aan? Can I read also? And if ever I listened to an ayah of Sajdah, should I make Sajdah?
A) It is praiseworthy to listen to the Qur-aan during haiz. The beloved prophet SAW used to read the Qur-aan leaning on the lap of his wife during the time she was in haiz-Bukhari. But you are not allowed to read the Qur-aan as tilawah during haiz. And if you happen to listen an ayah of sajdah, then no need to make Sajdah now or afterwards.
