Salaat-ut-Tasbeeh is proven by Ahadiths
The salaat-ut-tasbeeh reported by Abu Dawood, Tirmizi, Ibn Majah and other books is a salaah that is made of 4 rakaats where we read especially 300 tasbeehs of Soubhanallahi Walhamdulillahi wa laa ilaaha illallahou Wallahou Akbar.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

The virtue of this salaah is forgiveness of all sins without exception.

The way to perform it is:

First Rakaat: Read Thana and then read 15 times the above tasbeeh. Then read Arouzoubillah and Bismillah to read Sourah Fatiha, a sourah and then read 10 times the above tasbeeh.

Then go in ruku` read normal tasbeeh and then read 10 times the above tasbeeh.

Then in qawmah after Rabbana wa lakal Hamd, read: 10 times the above tasbeeh.

Then in 1st Sajdah 10 Times after normal tasbeeh.

Between the 2 sajdahs, read 10 times.

In the 2nd Sajdah, read 10 times.

When standing for 2nd Rakaat, read 15 times before starting bismillah sourah Fatiha.

This makes up 75 tasbeeh in one rakaat and full 4 rakaats will make up 300 tasbeehs.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ أَبَانَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِلْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ يَا عَبَّاسُ يَا عَمَّاهُ أَلَا أُعْطِيكَ أَلَا أَمْنَحُكَ أَلَا أَحْبُوكَ أَلَا أَفْعَلُ بِكَ عَشْرَ خِصَالٍ إِذَا أَنْتَ فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ ذَنْبَكَ أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ قَدِيمَهُ وَحَدِيثَهُ خَطَأَهُ وَعَمْدَهُ صَغِيرَهُ وَكَبِيرَهُ سِرَّهُ وَعَلَانِيَتَهُ عَشْرَ خِصَالٍ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ... اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَهَا فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مَرَّةً فَافْعَلْ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَفِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ مَرَّةً فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَفِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ مَرَّةً فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَفِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ مَرَّةً فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَفِي عُمُرِكَ مَرَّةً

Although Ibnul Jawzi commented that the narrator Moossa bin Abdul Azize as unknown, but others found the contrary. Other well versed ulamas of hadith has qualified the attitude of Ibn-ul-Jawzi as excessive and unacceptable. Some great scholars like Ibn Ma-ine, Nassai and Ibn Hibbaan have qualified him as an authentic narrator. Imam Bukhari mentioned the same hadith exactly as it is in his Juz Qiraat Khalfal-Imam. And he also reported from the same rawi in his book Adabul-Mufrad. This prove that the rawi is not unknown to ulamas of hadiths.

Besides this, we have scholars of Hadith like Al-Khateeb, Abou Moussa Al-Madeeni, Abul Hassan Bin Fadl, Al-Mounziri, Ibn-us-Salaah, An-Nawawi etc that accepted this hadith as authentic. According to Al Mounziri, this hadith have been qualified as correct by Abou Bakar Al-Ajuri, Sheikh Abou Mouhammad Abdur Raheem, Sheikh Al-Hafiz Abul Hassan Al-Mouqaddasi.

Besides, the sanad of Tirmizi is qualified Hassan and good by Sheikh Albani:

( سنن الترمذي )  حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن موسى أخبرنا عبد الله بن المبارك أخبرنا عكرمة بن عمار حدثني إسحق بن عبد الله بن أبي طلحة عن أنس بن مالك أن أم سليم غدت على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقالت علمني كلمات أقولهن في صلاتي فقال كبري الله عشرا وسبحي الله عشرا واحمديه عشرا ثم سلي ما شئت يقول نعم نعم قال وفي الباب عن ابن عباس وعبد الله بن عمرو والفضل بن عباس وأبي رافع قال أبو عيسى حديث أنس حديث حسن غريب وقد روي عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم غير حديث في صلاة التسبيح ولا يصح منه كبير شيء وقد رأى ابن المبارك وغير واحد من أهل العلم صلاة التسبيح وذكروا الفضل فيه حدثنا أحمد بن عبدة حدثنا أبو وهب قال سألت عبد الله بن المبارك عن الصلاة التي يسبح فيها فقال يكبر ثم يقول سبحانك اللهم وبحمدك وتبارك اسمك وتعالى جدك ولا إله غيرك ثم يقول خمس عشرة مرة سبحان الله والحمد لله ولا إله إلا الله والله أكبر ثم يتعوذ ويقرأ بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم وفاتحة الكتاب وسورة ثم يقول عشر مرات سبحان الله والحمد لله ولا إله إلا الله والله أكبر ثم يركع فيقولها عشرا ثم يرفع رأسه من الركوع فيقولها عشرا ثم يسجد فيقولها عشرا ثم يرفع رأسه فيقولها عشرا ثم يسجد الثانية فيقولها عشرا يصلي أربع ركعات على هذا فذلك خمس وسبعون تسبيحة في كل ركعة يبدأ في كل ركعة بخمس عشرة تسبيحة ثم يقرأ ثم يسبح عشرا فإن صلى ليلا فأحب إلي أن يسلم في الركعتين وإن صلى نهارا فإن شاء سلم وإن شاء لم يسلم قال أبو وهب وأخبرني عبد العزيز بن أبي رزمة عن عبد الله أنه قال يبدأ في الركوع بسبحان ربي العظيم وفي السجود بسبحان ربي الأعلى ثلاثا ثم يسبح التسبيحات قال أحمد بن عبدة وحدثنا وهب بن زمعة قال أخبرني عبد العزيز وهو ابن أبي رزمة قال قلت لعبد الله بن المبارك إن سها فيها يسبح في سجدتي السهو عشرا عشرا قال لا إنما هي ثلاث مائة تسبيحة . تحقيق الألباني : حسن الإسناد

And as for the hadith of Abu Dawood, Al Bani says :

(قلت: حديث صحيح، وقد قوَّاه جماعة من الأئمة، منهم أبو بكر الأجُرِّي وابن منده وأبو محمد عبد الرحيم المصري وأبو الحسن المقدسي والمنذري وابن الصلاح)

‘’The hadith is sahih...’’

And collectively our ulamas have been practicing salaat-ut-tasbeeh for generations onwards. This add to the authenticity of Salaat-ut-Tasbeeh and at least if once a week one should try to do it. Else once a month or once a year. Or at least once during a lifetime, one should try to do it.
